Well basically (and i know this is kind of a newbie question certainly not one a lvl 20 should be asking) but what is a bot?

Anyone?

a bot is basically a program which runs a character through a set routine without needing a player at the controls.

It's why ANet nerfed chest's as well as adding monsters between instance entrances and chest's as well as the script which reduces loot from repeatedly hitting the starter monsters in an area - because thats what bots did.. just ran from a town/oupost to a chest then warp back to the city/outpost and repead... or they would leave and attack the critters close to the entranceway then warp back and repeat...

So if you find leaving an outpost/city to be way too hard... blame the botter's, they are the ones who made ANet make some exit's to be real PITA's to deal with...

thanks amigo...didnt know you could do stuff like that...some clever people in the GW world, just a shame they waste their talents being greedy.

It is also a term used in first person shooters for AI controlled characters. In games like Unreal Tournament a bot is a roBOT (an npc). But yes in mmorpg's it refers to programs like fishing bots that autoplay for you
