Black Ink Scam
There is a current scam I saw today where people are advertising black dye for sale for 6.5K for one or 25K for five and when you try to buy them, they try to give you black ink instead of black dye. I saw 2 different people doing this today and called them both out on it and told them to stop trying to scam people. One of them didn't even reply, the other had the nerve to try to tell me that he used black ink on his armor and he was wearing right now.
I'm posting this for the new people coming to the game, do NOT fall for this scam. |

And considering that the gold needs in Pre-Sear are rather minute comparatively, and that most players in Pre-Sear are in fact complete new players who are unaware of what that Black Dye will net "on the outside," as it were... Just think about it, heh. |

it's not the same thing. selling ink as black dye is a misrepresentation. paying 200 g for a black dye from someone that's willing to sell it for 200 g is fine. if money means that much to that person they should research gw items/economy.

Even with the scaled-down economy of Pre-Sear, where 200 gold might be Pre-Sear equivalent of the selling price of black dye in Post-Sear (not saying it is, but for argument's sake)...announcing you're buying black dye for 200 gold is a clear indication to me that you are in fact exploiting player ignorance--or at the very least, acting under a false pretense...misrepresentation. "They should research the GW items/economy" is a rather broad generalized assessment, because the only players susceptible to that kind of consumer misinformation (black dye price or item, and anything in general, really) are the new players, who likely don't know where to go to read up on economic trends in GW, because they're more concerned with learning how to play (and reading online guides to that end). But make no mistake. Both examples are still misrepresentation. In the former, you're pulling some trickery and false advertising with the product. In the latter, you're deceptive with the payment. They're both still misrepresentation. Last edited by Siren; Sep 12, 2005 at 02:50 PM // 14:50.. |

as a buyer it is neither my responsibility nor my concern to make sure that you know how much item x is worth. it is YOUR responsibility as the seller to set your own price based on the information you have available to you. acquiring said information is your job, not mine.

"As a buyer it is neither my responsibility nor my concern to make sure....etc" is yet again missing the point here, the point being that what those black dye buyers in Pre-Sear are doing is totally misrepresentation, because your defense of that could be applied to Wall Street insider trading and still be brushed aside as rubbish. I don't care either way, but at least don't try to pass the "black dye buy" as the seller's fault when you know just as well as I do if the seller were to have the insider knowledge that you, the buyer, has...they wouldn't be selling you that black dye for a measly, paltry 200 gold. I don't see how you're able to make the argument you're making and believe it. lol. Try using the same defense of insider trading on Wall Street and I guarantee you won't like the rebuttal. Come on, be sensible here. |

As for the Pre Sear part, I always try to watch in towns for Black Dye trades and make people aware of what the Post Searing cost is.
