hey does anyone know how to build a monk that can solo UW?

It's really simple ... first, go to the outpost west of Amnoon Oasis. There you get the spell "Holy Fury".

Then you go to Ascalon City and buy the GREEN collector monk scarf. Make sure you get the green one.

Next, go to Lion's Arch, put on the green scarf, and talk to the fairy captain. He will offer to take you to different islands. Go and find Brother Carthan. He is at a different island each time, but you will find him. Get the quest "Raving giants" from him.

Now take off the scarf and complete the quest. At the end of the quest, you get the spell "Healing Wrath" as reward.

Ok, once you have the spells, you go to Droknar. There you find a group that goes to the collector for the "Sandals of Silence" (ask around, I don't remember what you needed, I think it was 7 bleached shells).

Go get the sandals, put them on, put on the scarf, put the spells in your skillbar. Now go to the Temple of the Ages, wait for favor, pay 1K to enter, and agro no more than 5 axxes (spelling). Cast Holy Fury to hand out damage, cast Healing Wrath for healing every 25 seconds. That's it, and good hunting.

I've been following your instructions, and they've helped a lot so far. However, I'm having trouble finding the Sandals of Silence. Perhaps I can get by with my Mukluks of Obfuscation?

As for Healing Wrath, all I can say is...wow. I've never seen a skill as superfluously dominant as this. In fact, my old 55 monk mows down aatxes three times as fast now that I have this skill. I can definitely understand why it's one of the five ultra-elites, because that quest was a huge pain in the rear. It's a good thing my friend's friend's friend was an alpha tester.

One and Two, you're going nowhere with that build.
Eternal Darkness is garbage for UW. If you're gonna use that build you need a Hairy Hands enchant or a Scourge Rez.

Jessy is describing the old solo build, but, unfortunately that one has been hit by the nerf bat in a big way - you now need 8 bleached shells for the sandals instead of 7. So it's nearly impossible to get the sandals - that's why they're going for up to 400k+ for a pair in LA.

But yeah, the old build got nerfed real bad.

Apparently Eternal Darkness got nerfed as well...damn.

Hairy hands suck imo...

You need SOJ and a white ring, expert salvage and then ID the white ring, then customize it and sell it to a trader. He'll give you a Winforce, which you superior salvage and take to the apothecary. The apothecary turns it into a Staff of Balthazar, which has +20 armor. You need to then get the Enchanting +70 mod and the super smite prayers+2 mod. Apply it and kneel to grenth's statue. He'll trade it for a helm of ineptitude, which makes you invisible to aataxes. Then, kill the aataxes and the get your mursaat tokens out. the restless spirit will trade 250 mursaat tokens for a Jenova cell. Take the jenova cell to the reaper of the sext, and he will infuse it into you. Run to the smite area and take them all out with omnislash, and then you see sephiroth's ghost in the distance. chase it. he offers you the masamune once you kill him, and you take that to Dwayna. she gives you a sandal of remote mind control. Raise an army of the leftover coldfires and kill the terrorwebs. Then, you should be able to take on the entire UW, solo.

Are you for real? Maybe n00bs like to propose builds without testing them, but I don't.
The Jenova cell exploit is completely bogus. You should try Signet of Xerox (SoX) - best damn elite in the game.
And I stand by my initial statement.....Hairy Hands kicks butt in PvE, PvP and PvG.

I don't go anywhere without SoX or Hairy Hands.

You're kidding right? SoX is probably the worst elite in PvE, especially in the UW. The recharge is terrible, and you can only use it on enemies with souls. That means Golems are out, I've treid it on the stone summit and it fails with a 90% chance there, and despite all common sense, it doesn't work against anything in the UW or FoW. You'd think everything in the friggin UNDERWORLD would be SoX-able because they are actually souls in the first place, but no, I guess SoX needs the soul it uses to actually have a host body at the time....

You might be able to get some kind of use from it in PvP were everything will have a soul, but I'd still bring Ether Renewal for the energy regen...

Hairy Hands on the other hand is a must for any monk primary or even secondary. Because it's a dual-attribute skill you will have to put points into both healing and smitng for it to be any good, but the armor bonus vs physical and cold damage is too good to pass up, especially when you consider it deals 95% of all the damage you take back to the source. Sure, your charisma will take a hit, but it's still worth it. You're a monk, leave charisma for the W/Mos.

But seriously, until you get spectral agony, dont even think of soloing the UW. Unless of course, you get infused with Jenova cells. But I doubt you have the platinum for that.
