Default GVG: Frustration

So...how's it work?

I thought GvG was supposed to match high ranking guilds
versus one another. Well it doesnt appear to work. We were 958 in the
ladder and just played 344 in the ladder. We are now not
on the ladder.

This is not the first time either. In our endeavours to get on the ladder
we got within 1 win, 3 times...yes 3 times and we played rank 245, rank
340, and rank 430. We also played les grobilleux??? one of the featured
guilds twice, yes twice....lol

Are we just unlucky or is there any other reason why a
1000 rated guild should play guilds rated 700+ points above them on a
regular basis?

Any advice on this matter would be appreciated by my guild.

[EDIT]

Ha Ha, tried again, guess what?
340 this time...lol.

And again...this time similar guild to us but hey guess what??
Brilliant guests.

What's the point?

That's nothing. Last night my guild (rating pretty low, like 3500) was pitted against Jet LI aka RANK 2 on the ladder! We didnt even try, we just left.

we have the same issue, i'm starting to dislike GvG because of it. our guild is now mainly doing HoH untill we get good enough to fight high ranked guild, since its the only solution so far i can think of.

No, the best has to be the points loss. See being pitted against a team say 700 ranks above you means you lose -7 to -9 points maximum, enough to slide you down the ladder a fair bit, if not off it entirely.

However if you play a similar rank guild or one ranked below you that has guests who are more advanced as GvG players then you are guaranteed a -18 point loss. AND NO WAY OF LEARNING better GVG.

How does the guest system work anyway? Anyone know??

Is it possible for a one man guild to pay 700 gold and get 7 of Jet Li (For Example), to GvG with him? I wouldn't have thought so.

What is the maximum number of guests???

IS GUESTING CHEATING???? (Sounds like EXPLOIT to me.)

Anyone really good at GvG wanna guest with my Guild and help us get back on the ladder? Or is there any chance we can do it FAIRLY AND SQUARELY by ourselves.

This is a discussion, not a rant - I was advised by Gwars Support to follow up my official complaint to them on one of their recommended forums - So I chose the best....lol

If you going to GvG you should be prepared to play anyone. The only way to improve is to play teams that are better than you.

the better your opponant the more you learn so if you play against high ranked teams at least try to observe what they are doing and when thinking of a build for your team also think about what you could do against your team to defeat your team so you can better tune your builds

340, etc. isn't high. Anyone above the top 50, maybe top 100 if you stretch it is fair game. Below that, yeah it sucks to get matched up with them, but you have to accept it.

Playing guilds ranked much higher than you isn't a bad thing. If you've ever played a high-ranked guild you know that you can really learn a lot from that loss. Watch which targets they call (who drops first on your team), how they attack, move around the map, their team's build, who takes the flag stand and when, when/if they rez, etc... Playing these guilds is one of the best GvG learning experiences you can have. Don't automatically quit and give up. What kind of an attitude is that?

You can expect lower ranked guilds not to play GvG as often, so you will relatively face higher ranked guilds more often than low ranked ones, if you're in a guild struggling to get into the top 1000.

there is something worse than to fight a high ranked guild. This is to fight a new elite guild wich is not high ranked yet. I explain, we were around 150th in the ladder and faced a guild which name was not familiar with a low rank (around 1500 th) so we were pretty happy ... and got Pwned !
So we lost many many places in the ladder and they raised insanely fast. We checked the ladder the day after, that guild was in top 50 with only 1 lost and 30-40 wins -_-'.

yeah the GvG ladder is messed up right now; more often than not we play teams that are like more than 1000 places away from our rank or more, or we play teams for their first gvg.

I feel sorry for those teams that really don't have a chance to play some team around their current skill level because it's really not fun to get beat on by some top 50 guild as your first gvg.
