Activation Question
Hello everybody, I know some of you are going to call me names but please try and keep the lame flaming to a minimum. The other day my friend told me "I should play some guild wars with him" and I said I didnt have it and he gave me a handy link to a certain company that offers a 10 hour trial for guild wars. It's a tottaly legitimate thing that anybody can do. anyways you just sign up and they give you an access code. well my dilema is that I dont get paid until thursday and my ten hours is NEARLY up. He has his key still because he just went out and bought the game himself. when my time runs out will I be able to add the second key so I can play some more until then? and just an FYI it isnt like I am constantly re-submitting my name to get more keys because you can only have one registration per computer. Thank you so much for any responses.

Personally.. I think you should just stretch your remaining playtime out over the next ~2 days and then call in sick on Thursday when you have the full game That's just me. I figure if they're nice enough to give you a trial, and you think it's worth buying, then it's pretty easy to have integrity about the 10 hour limit..
On the other hand, if the demo will let you simply register a new key and unlock another 10 hours, then who's to say ANet doesn't mind in the least bit? Afterall, this 'company' of which you speak sure didn't make it very hard for people to get a key |

Never tried the trial. But you should just wait to buy it. If you REALLY want to try go ahead, but hopefully there won't be rules breached.
BUY IT! |

adding another key will not add 10 hours , lol
what i think you can do is , when you buy the game , you might be able to continue that 10 first hours ... when you have the game before starting send a mail with your new and old key and your demo acount name and password ... and ask if they can make it one single acount. |

This has really nothing to do with this topic, but kinda does...Sure you can stretch out your remaining time, but don't call off work about the game...That's a bit childish to me...I'm sure you've played it enough to know if you like it well enough to buy it, and when you do have the money and you decide you want it, go for it...

_necroangel_, he already explained that he won't get paid until a few days from now, that's why he wants to use another. People aren't made of money, and if you are, I could use some spare change
Alone), this is actually a legitimate, though unadvertised, way to try Guild Wars first. He isn't breaking any rules by having one trial serial number, though I don't know about two or more. Shareware, demos, and trials have always been legitimate, sometimes necessary ways for software companies to sell their products. He does have an intent to buy. neoteo, I believe the way the system works, maxxpehling can just add the retail serial number onto his existing account and then continue to play. I'd think it was similar to adding preorder or Collector's Edition keys. maxxpehling, don't be ashamed or whatever. It's a legitimate question, and you deserve a legitimate answer. However, I'm not sure if anyone here can answer your question; I'd just stay on the safe side and wait. It's only a couple of days. The wait will be worth it. |

thank you everybody for the responses, and I must say that I was a bit dumbfounded to return home today and find that I had like 7-8 responses, and no flaming.. kind of weird but I'll deffinatly go along with that :P I'm only 17 and I "hope" I get paid some money this week, I dont actually have a job but I do handywork for people and I just painted my Grandpa's bosses building. and he may pay me this week or next month, thats why I'm wondering about this. Believe me, I know it's worth it and I have every intention to buy it as soon as I get a little dough. Again thank you everybody for the help! One thing I am going to try and do tommorow is try and sell a copy of BF2, WoW "now I'll probably get flamed" and X-plane. It's a try but I doubt anybody will buy them :P there's always trying though!

Look/call around for prices when you decide to buy it..I bought mine for $45 around when the game first came out (I believe it retailed at 50?), and I've seen it on sale for $35 recently but can't remember where.
If yer 17 you can get a credit card if your parents co-sign....hehehe |

I hope the OP realises that I was only joking about the calling in sick bit. Was just a playful jab at the fact that he's clearly so eager to play the game.. Certainly not meant to corrupt the poor lad or anything ('sides, it's a lost cause.. he's already gaming ) maxx-- mow some lawns, my friend. Sounds corny, but people will pay you good money to tend to their Sacred Shrub! Last edited by Bingley Joe; Sep 28, 2005 at 05:31 AM // 05:31.. |

In a nutshell, no you won't be able to add-on another free key, because I am sure that the key is locked to one account. So that account won't be accessible again, unless you re-authorise it with a legitimate key. If you got another free key, you would have to register it with another account - ergo your character(s) on your first account would still be inaccessible.
But anyway, isn't an online key not very much money? GW is being retailed for ??17.99 here. If you can't afford that then you really must be badly off |
