This has undoubtedly been asked before but I couldn't find it... if you plop a new weapon upgrade on top of an old one, does it replace the old one? I know it works this way with runes on armor.

See... I have a +1 insightful staff head. It's basically useless but I am wondering if I should drop it on my staff for now, until I get a better one. But I'm not going to put it on if it screws up my staff.

Yes you can replace them with better ones later on and it wont screw anything up, just replace your old one.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but I was wondering the same thing today. This answers the basic question, but my follow up is this. Do you lose the old upgrade or does it go back to your inventory?
