well i have recently recreated my necro (necro was my first char). i did fort ranik last night and we had 3 necros and 1 monk. however i think we constituted the entire necromancer population of the district. maybe only necromancers know the usefulness of necromancers? at least early on.
i never thought i'd see the day that a group would have no warrior. i see i was mistaken. |

Well I've been trying to do Sanctum Cay for a while now, and I see many more Necros ( Usally N/R ) and Mesmers than I did before. I think the whole order of the vampire / barbs thing is being realised, as in my opinion Necromancers are the most versatile Class.

Necromancers are described as the most balanced and all round good class in the Prima guide. Necromancer primary basically works with any secondary.
(however it also says that necros are most capable of soloing...) if you have played with a minionmancer in SF you will see the awsome power that they can have. if you have played with a Curses/Blood Necro in PvP you will see the awsome power that they can have. Necromancers don't really have any redundant attributes. maybe people are finally noticing this... |

I noticed that too...which kinda sucks for me because I was going to make a Necro once my second character beats the game (and it'll be harder to find groups if there's more necros)...then again hopefully these people will be proving how good necros are and necros will gain more respect by the time I get my character out there.
I'm totally going to have a minions/blood/healing N/Mo |

I play as a N/W and I find it easier to solo than with my Ele. I think it's the fact that with a blood necro every spell you cast you gain that energy back...which in turn has kept me alive in tight situations.
On a related subject, can you think of any reasons why my melee sword attack against many higher level enemies is 5-10 when my sword is 13-19? It's not on all, but I've been noticing it more often against lower level White Mantle. Should I use an axe or hammer instead of a sword in most cases? |

To Above: They have higher level armour, reducing the damage you do. GW is about using skills to increase the damage you do.
As for my N/Mo, At the moment I have 9 in soul reaping, take two minions from one corpse for 25 energy. Now in the time it takes for those minions to die ( theyre storing 18 energy for me ) I've regenerated over 10 energy. 10+18=28. I gain energy, which can be annoying because I cant spend it fast enough and sometimes end up wasting soul reaping bonus'. Its hard to find a group right now because of the number of necros |

It's probably because they are twinked second chars. They finished the game with the standard W/Mo and now they want to try something radically different.
Necros complain all the time about not getting groups, but I haven't had much trouble. The groups that don't want me are too stupid to know what necros do, so I don't care about them. "LFG 4 tanks 2 healing monks 2 echo nukers, no one else need apply" Boring! I've had the most fun with unusual groups. One was 4 rangers, 2 necros, a monk, and an ele I think... and we beat 2 island missions that I couldn't finish with the standard boring group. I have been in lots of two necro groups and it works fine. You just coordinate with the other necro -- if he's a death guy, say "leave me a corpse for wells and you can have the rest", if he's a blood guy, say "I'll keep the monks powered if you want to nuke" or vice versa. People also forget about curses. I always bring Shadow of Fear which is AoE and cuts enemy attacks in half and has a quick recast time. How much healing does that save? Things definitely get better for necros towards the end game. Last night in Hell's Precipice someone was asking for a necro, and another group sent me a random invite. A necro can be a huge asset to a party... if he knows what he is doing. Guys who only spam minions are a pain in the arse and give the rest of us a bad name. |

It is all about trends. Soon arenanet will nerf the necro and move on.
In my case, arenanet killed my monk build so I decided to play PvP and built a necro. Soon they will change the game and I will either adapt or find a new game to play. |

I have always loved my blood necro, it died the least, finishing all missions in about half the time as my warrior and elementalist (because I am not a damager, I'm a healer). It also has better support skills and buffs.
As far as classes go...What's going to be the next up for the new trend? Time will tell. |

Order of difficulty to play/popularity (from most easiest to most difficult most popular/least)
Warrior-Monk-Ranger-Elementalist-Necromancer-Mesmer I've noticed that many ppl start with the warrior class and makes characters along this line. If I'm right the next fad will be Mesmers. (They are 25% of the population in pre-searing already! i made one preemptively) I'm a bit sad that the necromancer is just beggining to rise in popularity. I made a Necromancer as my first character that I liked alot but no one wanted me in their group so I deleted her T_T. And made myself a Monk. I just *can't* play warrior. it's just too simple for me to play with. But monk requires strategy and energy management so it's very testing. |

To the OP: Yeah. I guess people are finally realizing the power of support classes. Skilled players will agree: you might never notice a good necro or mesmer in your group but you'll surely notice when they're gone. (a.k.a. Why are those hexes/degens hurting so bad this time around? All we lost was a necro!) |

All the more reason why W/N owns
Necro skills are just tooooo good and with OR without soul reaping, you can put together quite a dangerous battle system, though as a necro primary, I'd always get at least 9 soul reaping due to the ability to spell spam... |
