Just starting out on GW.. need a few tips
I'm gonna be starting out on GW quite soon, and I just need a few opinions on strategy, characters etc. I've done a fair bit of looking at stuff, so I think I know a little more about the game than most starter-outers (not to sound pretentious). Anyway, I've planned my 4 characters, and they are:
Elementalist/Monk Monk/Warrior Necromancer/Monk Mesmer/Necromancer Anyone think I should reconsider any of these? Got any other tips for me? If you do, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Ooh, I've also got myself into a bit of a kerfuffle over what type of ele to major in... air or fire... Last edited by {integral}; Oct 02, 2005 at 06:40 PM // 18:40.. |

Thanks , but.. i've already read them
The real reason I'm thinking about ele types are the monsters in the game and their weaknesses.. also the best types of armour against them too. Oh, it IS a lot more confusing than RuneScape.. Last edited by {integral}; Oct 02, 2005 at 06:50 PM // 18:50.. |

If you are a new person to Guildwars. you will find the PreSearing beginning part of the game extreamly usefull for learning. Don't do the academy right away.
Also Check out MOOMANiBE map project thread here in this and other GW forums. I have one of the many mirror sites for this project here If you have not picked it up, you may also be interested in getting the stratagy guide Available online here, for basic skills information (Though slightly out of date now) , and maybe try to make a few early friends by joinning or making a guild in presearing... Good luck... Oh and don't get suckered back there. hold on to your black dyes... they are worth bookoo gold with the dye trader after the academy... so they are good to hold on to, don't let anyone tell you otherwise and try to get them cheap from you. Thanks for the maps - I'll find them ultra useful when I'm lost and alone with only henchmen to keep me company. Henchmen that die. Instead of being good.
Really though - thanks a lot |

If you have any other general questions, you might bump into me at Fort Ranik.
If I'm there, I'm always dancing in the shade near the exit. Oh, and I'm a blue monk. I made a pre-sear character to help out new players. Mind you, I don't PvP, and I don't claim to be the most experienced person in Tyria, but I might be able to answer some of your questions if you have any. |

By blue monk, you mean... a monk with armour dyed blue... not any sort of special monk build I haven't found out about... right?

Hehehehe yeah.
Sorry I wasn't clear about that. A build won't change the colour of your character (except maybe the armour). |

I do have a suggestion for you: Focus on one character until he's "Ascended". If you do a mission on one character, switch, do it on another, etc. you will get bored of the game very quickly. You should work on one character at a time.

i only use henchies and after you get used to the fact that your little healer thinks she is a tank or will go into the middle of a battle to heal someone they do mostly better than most random people. not kidding unfortunately BTW be ready to run away from battle if you see a red tide of dots heading toward you on the minimap |

With regard to the red tide of dots, can I stop them running towards me by keeping them out of the circle that's around me on the minimap? |

one group may trigger another like domonoes and they all have a grudge on you. some have a short leash and i have heard of some that will chase you until you zone. i run and leave my henchies to follow me or fight and die and after the dust settles and the red tide goes back i sneak in and rez them |
