Great post, I agree this needs a sticky though.
I am a little dissapointed that these pets seem to have all the same stats. Neverthless, I am glad to see this info and I think lots of others feel the same. |

Traps/spirit path... Traps involve running into mobs, expertise and the added AR of ranger primaries is more sought after for trappers. This is certainly news to me, I heard that pets' specs (excluding the strider and black widow) were completely cosmetic and didn't vary with higher level beast mastery.

I have a question relating to pets, purely "cosmetic" question really. But since this claims to be the ultimate guide.. and since it looks like the stats are much of a muchness...
I saw a screenshot in the screenshot forum of a W/R with a pet pig (that you can get from pre-searing) and it looked BIG - esp compared to how puny it looked at the start.. My question is - do pets change size/appearance as they level up and/or reach new area's? Or do they stay the same size/shape/appearance as when you 1st got them? |

pets grow in size as they gain levels
a level 20 pet is almost 3 times the size of a level 5 pet |

Ninna & UsagiNoSenshi - thanx for that. I didn't realize pets got bigger as they lvl's. I know it's purely cosmetic, but still interesting to know & thanx for the screenshot UsagiNoSenshi.
Would also be interested in seeing screenshots of the different pets. But interesting to see that basically every pet seems to be around the same damage / dps wise, with main difference being simply what type of attack they do, how they look and slight variations in dps/attack-speed/min-max damage... apart from the Black Widow that is... |

lol think that was a joke!!! Sort of like saying a tomato worm is a plant.
I think that moss spiders were orginally charmable? But like the black bears got taken away in pre-sear. I hope to see another low level charmable spider some day. |

Fern Lizards
Hi
I have the GW Guide and it shows a map of The Northlands across the wall in Pre- Searing Ascalon and on the map it shows Fern Lizards. The legend of the map list them as Fern Lizard(Pet 1), so i was wondering if they were tameable. The other legends of the other maps show Bears and Moss spiders as pets too. So if anyone can give me an answer that would be great because I would really like one, but right now i have a Level 8 wolf and i won't get rid of him unless the Fern lizards are tameable. |

About that interview though...
Quote:
It seems as if the interview suggests that the pets ARE indeed different from one another. I'm curious WHO exactly did the tests and more importantly, HOW. I'm not questioning whether or not the tests were done with attention to accuracy but there's possibly something missing. For example, my personal experiences with pets seems to suggest, for example, that Stalkers do less damage than most other pets along with having less health, but do more damage with pet skills. In any case though, the guide is very useful for the locations, listings, and whatnot and I must give my acknowledgement for good work. |

You know, information I have found at another GW fansite suggest's that the title that a pet can gte... or it's "evolution" does indeed effect how good/bad a pet is. Unlike what is atated in this guide here.
It says that basically any pet which gets to the "Elder" evolution would be just as good as the Spider you get from the UW, as the spider does so much more because it's pre-evolved at the "Elder" level, which according to them is the best evolution possible. Are they just imagining things? Or is there any possible truth to what they are saying? Anyone got any thoughts? I'd link to it... but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to make links to other GW fansites forums in here... it's in the Rangers section of the GWOnline forums... |
