How do you train an aggressive pet?
I was thinking put all your attributes in beast mastery and expertise. Equip your skill bar with all beast mastery skills?
Will this work? So far I've tried dividing my attributes between beast mastery(13), expertise(12),wilderness(10). Pet did most of the damage as I was only using Flint's Fleshcleaver with no points in water magic. Pet still turned out as Playful. I am getting quite frustrated with acquiring new pets only to fail at getting an aggressive pet. Anet may have to change their algorithm for pets to turn out aggressive as nobody seems to get one. They all turn out playful. It's either too hard to get an aggressive or something is seriously bugged. |

I did almost the same thing as Valerius when I got my Dire. I carried 2 or 3 pet attacks along with Call of Protection, Otyugh's Cry, and Symbiotic Bond to make sure the poor low-level pet was taking pretty much no damage. I had pumped my Beastmastery up to 16, had only 9 Expertise, had 0 marks, and had the remaining stuff in Wilderness so I could use Troll to counteract the damage from Symbiotic Bond. With the higher Beast Mastery, the few extra points from Call of Protection and Comfort Animal mean you're not healing as often, and the few extra points from the pet attacks mean your pet can kill things faster. Feral Lunge can be quite helpful because even if your pet is too lowly leveled to do much damage to things, the bleeding will wear them down.

I've just encountered the same problem as the OP... I have 15 into beast mastery, and nothing into marksmanship, but I still ended up with a playful prefix. Does it affect it if we attack? Or do we not have to attack at all and let the pet do ALL the killing? Another thing which I could have done wrong was that I just found a sickle (really crappy one) so I decided to use it on my ranger cuz it looked cool , and I put whatever extra points I had into axe mastery.
Also, will using EoE to help speed up the killing make a difference as well? Last edited by Penguins Will Fly; Oct 14, 2005 at 02:52 AM // 02:52.. |

well... u kinda have to be attacking in order for ur pet to attack so...
just make sure ur pet doesn't die too often and that u have atleast 12BM... ur pet should be doing most of the damage and killing |

Well what I'm trying to do right now is to just run into the middle of a group and as they start attacking me my pet will eventually attack them without having me need to attack them first, and I guess I'll stick with doing this and see how it goes, just in case. But I would also like an answer to my question about EoE... it would be hellpful for making things go faster, but I'm afraid it might make my pet turn into a playful pet, but then again, EoE is in the beast mastery line so I'm not sure what to make of it.

EDIT: I used EoE when I trained one of my Dires, so that shouldn't be the problem. |
