How to get non-pink gladiators?
Looking for someone who has successfully dyed the Droknar's gladiator on their female toon red. And, while I appreciate the helpful thoughts behind "just try mixing with black" et al; my resources are limited and it's not even my character. A screenshot would be perfect!
Thanks in advance. |

Mixing isn't the problem, else I'd just use a vial of red dye and be done with it. The problem is, like with most armor; is the color of the dye != color of the armor post-application.
GW really needs a way to try before you apply or even mix. I'd drop a plat in a heartbeat just to mess with colors. |

I mixed orange and red, and it turned a pretty nice red color on my male Gladiator armor.

I might try that. Although that's male armor and 15k besides. I used dye remover followed by green on my own wars's 1.5k gladiator and it turned out plenty dark for me (I don't want to hear about all the green gladiators...char's name is "The Green Knight"). If I do go for it, probably if no better matching responses soonish, I think I'll definately use dye remover as a primer.
Oh, BTW, has anyone noticed that Anet was kind enough to remove the ability to waste dye on undyeable items with the update? Rather happy with that myself. |

Well aside from a way to see the result before applying dye to armor...they should also make the colors the same when actually applied as they are in bottle. Seriously, why is it when I apply red dye to a scar it turns purple???

Yep; there seriously needs to be a preview feature, like a dye "shop".

The problem you all have is that you do not take into account the color of the armor itself. I you have armor that is originally blue and add yellow you will get a greenish final color. This make it possible to have a million color combos based on your class, not just the dye.
For instance if you add yellow and green, you get a real dull olive on a ranger, but on a necro it it almost fluorescent green! Like keys, dyes are not necessary and are money sinks for those with cash to burn and experiment with. |

Yea, the orange + red doesn't work out right on female version though.

Yeah, the male and female armor of the same type should dye the same. Both start with yellow as the base.
Try orange + purple. Last edited by ChoKILLate[FDG]; Oct 18, 2005 at 08:06 PM // 20:06.. |

You'd think that; I think I tried it on my own warrior before using redorange on my wife's but they weren't entirely similar...the female armor is lighter. Suppose orange + purple is worth a try since those are cheap, but I'm betting since it's already a purple cast with red+black it'll end up quite purple.
