Ele/Necro Build
Hi there! I'm new to the Guru and to GW. I've been playing on my brothers account for a bit now and enjoyed the game. Now have it myself! I've been playing a w/mo that I enjoy. On his account I played an ele/mo that I enjoyed.
However I'm finding myself being tied to a secondary monk often when I try new builds. I've played a Nec/me which I liked but, now I want to play an ele/nec. Need some help with this build not only for PvE but also for PvP, I'd like the same build for both, with minor tweaks. Here is what I'm thinking. Air: 9/10 Water: 9/10 Curses: 8/9 rest in energy. spells- ice spikes, lightning touch, enervating charge, shard storm and armor of frost. from the Nec. - Faintheartedness, parasitic bond and either- enfeeble or mark of pain. I know I won't be able to deal huge damage but, I would like to deal some. I've gone with water to slow down the enemy as well as using lighting touch as a follow up to deal a little more damage. Parasitic bond for minor DoT as well as some late healing for myself. Armor of Frost to keep me alive long enough to get Parasitic bond reward. Let me know what you think. I'm open for suggetions. I would really like to play an ele/nec. - I DO NOT like death magic. I would prefer blood or curses. I like fire for direct damage but, I feel that air combined with either water or earth can complement each other better. Thanks for you help. |

hello??? (knock, knock) anyone???
just looking for advice on Ele/necro build. suggestions. tell me I have it all wrong, it;s ok...whatever. A little feedback would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to try this dual class. I'd really hate to PvE go through Ascolon Arenas, Shiverpeak then get lvl 15/16 and realize..wow this just won't work. I am trying to get better about combining skill sets, that's why I have chosen the few I did rather than going for straight...I feel like I'm usually all over the place with spells and then I have no energy left. Again please help.....thank you. |

Water/Curses sounds fun to me as well, soul barbs can be nasty with it. Going over as many magic lines as you have.. just.. doesn't seem too effective to me.
If you don't mind losing all your energy every battle, you could try something like I've said so many other times... Earthquake Aftershock Crystal Wave Shadow of Fear Feast of Corruption Armor of Earth Ward vs Melee Parastic Bond. You'd want high earth, curses, and energy storage. First cast a few parasitic bonds, then shadow of fear, then run into the mob with armor of earth on. Cast the ward, then do the EQ+AS combo, then crystal wave. Your last move will be Feast of Corruption, to steal HP and do yet more damage. If you use 12 curses and 12 earth.. that's.. 85+85+56+82+67+34 = 409 area effect damage .. And 183 of it is armor ignoring. Of course there are other cool things you can do with e/n, such as stoning+enfeeble/enfeebling blood.. just look at the skills. |

Ok, I'm going to make an obvious suggestion that is later going to turn out to be geniusariffic .
Water offensive spells are often hexes. Why is that geniusariffic? soul barbs, my friend. If you sling on soul barbs, and then ice spikes to deep freeze, you do an extra 50 points of damage. Your damage-dealing/snaring spells (I'd thrown in blurred vision as a 3rd water hex) can come from water and still activate that 26 extra damage. If you have the 3 hexes I suggested and soul barbs, and a rez sig, that leaves you 3 slots. I might go with the elite lingering curse rather than rend enchantments, because it's awesome and elemtalists have the enrgy to throw it around. So 2 slots, hopefully hexes: perhaps mark of subversion for anti-monking, and soul barbs to boost warrior attacks. EDIT: maybe just mark of subversion, and take water attunement. Too bad Spinal Shivers drains all your mana, or it would be good with that build. BTW, is this skill ever useful?

Yeah, I tried out the ele/nec hex master, even with soul barbs, on the pvp arena. Your best bet is to single out anything that isn't a monk with a contemplation of purity build lol - though I suppose you could hex cover it with shard storm spam (which wouldnt detract from what you'd be doing anyways). Even better is for a charging warrior - soul barbs, shard storm, spirit of failure, blurred vision = gimped warrior :P Spam more storms for 50 + 30 dmg from soul barbs each time (I tested and I'm pretty sure the hex from the first shard storm doesn't need to end in order to get the dmg bonus). If you don't like spirit of failure combo, use enfeebling blood + insidious parasite (keep his speed up, but lower his dmg).
Actually, if you like hexes, you could go the way of the N/W running a killer combo of mark of pain, spiteful, insidious parasite and wielding a sword and using flurry. Or, do what I do and run a N/R the same way but with a pet and tiger's fury (cast tiger's right after spiteful so that it doesn't get in the way of the next cast while wailing on a mark of pained character). I think if you ran a R/N you could take advantage of the throw dirt + spirit of failure combo (though this is easily mend-ailment'ed). Anyways, I digress. But just tossing up more fun hex ideas! |

Water/Curses PvE and Maelstrom not got a mention ? Shadow of fear on the warriors and rangers, Maelstrom on the head of the Monk and his nearby caster friends, Ward Against Harm at your feet, then /dance and watch even henchies finish the job.
