I know that apply poison works with a bow,and warrior weapons. But does apply poison also work with spellcaster weapons?

Nope. Read the description - it only works on physical attacks.

...ok, now I'm wondering if elemental bowstrings or Greater Conflagration would disable Apply Poison. Anyone know?

I have used Apply Poison with both my Ebon and Fiery bow strings--still works!

Apply Poison - Preparation. For 24 seconds, foes struck by your physical attacks become Poisoned for X seconds.

I'm guessing that elemental modded swords and bows still count as physical attacks, but deal elemental damage.
