Faction is a reward-points system in PvP, where you receive points for killing opponents and winning matches. It works along the same lines as experience points.
Faction points can be redeemed at the various Priests of Balthazar to unlock skills and items for your PvP characters. The maximum faction you can have on an account is 10k, so you will need to periodically redeem your faction, untill you achieve total account unlock. At that point, faction no longer serves any purpose. Note that the items and skills unlocked through faction do not transfer to your PvE characters, nor do you receive the actual item itself, rather you can use it when you next create a new PvP character. |

Faction is there to be used There's no reason not to use it if you know you'll PvP it right back.

Faction is your friend!
From the priests of Balthazar to the nice +25 Faction when you kill someone, the thrill of PVP is quite exhilirating. <I'm not even a PVP'er by nature, but there's just something about the unpredicability of other PC's that allures me in> Faction is used to redeem faction items from the Priest of Balthazar, thus unlocking it to all your future <if you decide to make one> PVP only characters. Have fun! =) --The Shim |

question about unlocking things
Is it easier to unlock things so you can use em or make a PvE char and buy em on your char. It seems to me it would be a lot easier to unlock things like Superior Vigors etc. I have never made a PvP char only PvE and am only now starting to take some to the competition arenas. So any information about unlocking and how it works, timeframe to unlock things you want, etc. is greatly apreciated.
The other thing I would like to ask it about the arenas in which arena do you win what. I know there is faction rame and rank to win so I was wondering where you won what things. Please keep in mind I know nothing about any of the arena's or how they work so be kind. Also I was wondering if any of the arena's cause you to lose any of those things if you take a loss. Thanks for any information you can take the time to post. PS if there is anything about PvP you think I should know please go ahead and let me know. |

Faction isn't ITEMS, think of it as like Gold; rather you use it to unlock things.
Faction is aquired by killing opponents, and for winning. If you consecutive win, you get bonus faction too. As for arenas; since faction is the only thing you'll get for Pvp'ing, there is no "items" unless you use your faction to unlock things. Unlocking things on a PVE character is better imho, and more fun <I'm not saying PVP isn't cool by any means>, but it's faster to unlock with a PVE Runes and stuff for PVP <you know, that message that pops up telling you you've unlocked things> means it's open to use if you so decide to make a PVP char. The only way to specifically get items unlocked is to get faction and use it. That way you know you are surely unlocking it. In PVE, you might not unlock the item you want, but you still unlock things in general. PVP to get anywhere, you will need to dedicate a set amount of time, seeing as faction buys usually run 1k+ to unlock things <in faction>. What I mean by set amount of time; you need to realize, you only get 25 faction a kill and 25 for winning. So you'll need to put time and effort in PVP to really get anywhere faction wise. Also, a side note on PVP: I would use a skill set geared towards PC players, not PVE enemies. Most people that just hop into an arena don't build their char right and get wiped all over the floor. So think about what you need: IE: disrupts, attacks, spells, and whatnot that would do specifically better on PC characters. --Hope this helped. --The Shim |
