EoE killed me in Tombs?
Hey this is my first post so lets see if i can get an answer to my question...
I was playing in Tombs with a group and we were to the third competitive battle (the one with four teams). Anyway, one team rushed ours and beofre we could do anything, every member of our team had 1/2 life. This is where i became worried. I tried to cast heal party to keep us going but just then we lost the other half. When we were sent back to the beginning area i asked my team "hey guys, what just happened?". One of them replied, "they used and EoE bomb". Another member added "damn bomb!". At this point I was very confused. I asked "what is EoE?". They reply I recieved was, "it's essence of elements, a really rare skill." I'm sure a lot of people are going to call me a loser and a noob for not knowing what this is but can anyone bring me up to speed on what this could have been? |

EoE is the Ranger spirit Edge of Extinction. It causes damage to players of the same race if one of those players dies. What the team you went up against did was sacrifice themselves in order to trigger EoE, which in turn damaged your team in a short and time-efficient manner.

Ok...Thanks for the explination.
I thought there was a skill in the game that I didn't know about. By the way, are there secret or rare skills in the game? Or was the person who said that it was essence of elements just lying to me? |

There aren't secret skills. They were probably just confused or trying to make stuff up.

That was grade-A Oscar Meyer baloney. The only player skills that exist in-game so far are the ones listed at the Priests of Balthazar in the PvP areas.

Well it was my first time in Tombs, with my first ascended character. We did pretty well I think...until we got the bomb dropped on us. Any suggestions on how to aviod it (other than spreading out our team)?

Heh...now why didn't I think of that?
Probably because I only play monks and I concentrate on keeping our team alive... You have inspired me to play a new character! Thank you very much kind sir! |

Yeah, I was in this group; it was pretty ugly.
But, if EoE only hurts the people of the same race, why did all of our team get damaged? Shouldn't it have only been the necros? |

what eoe bomb teams do is keep one of their members out of eoe range, hoping that everyone else gets killed by the bomb except the guy out of range for the easy win.
If you see a team where everyone has necro in the char, spread hard. If you carry heal area, run into them and cast that - hahahah, suckers don't like that. |

A good EoE Bomb will consit of only very few necros. For example only 2-3 and some of them might be secondary necro - so you don't expect a bomb. Others will be monk primary and secondary.
They will use infuse health to get down to about 1/4 health and then die when the necros die. Or mesmer using Illusion of Weakness. Whatever They will survive due to Mark of Protection. If you don't see the bomb coming you will most likely loose. But this is just a fun build - you or you loose within the first few seconds. |
