Hi,
You don't need/have to do all the quests in pre-searing to be able to see the "New Ascalon" as you call it. There's one quest somewhere in Ascalon City (I forgot the name of that quest) telling you "you have to settle all remaining business here as you won't be able to come back blablabla..." Well after completing that quest, you'll be in that new area where Ascalon has been devastated...
How to make money? Well, you can make money by completing some quests (yeah few of them are rewarded with money) or you can try to sell out some items you get from quests, collectors or when killing monsters. You can sell them to other players by writing in the Trade Tab "WTS Silver Dye" for example... Or you can just sell them to any merchant for a very low price.
Hope that helps.

1.Do every quest possible, and then hunt charr over-the-wall pre-searing to get to where you want to be level wise, then port over.

2. Money..is an opinionated word. Most quest results are exp+items pre-searing that can be sold for gold. As for "Gold" giving quests, there really isn't a whole lot of them.

3. Make more money? Hunt. Plain and simple. Hunt things. Collect loot drops and sell <although I'm sure you didn't need to be told this, I'm just pointing it out>

4. If after all that you still can't make money, there's problems. I left pre-searing on my first character with the ballpark of 5-10k <somewhere in there>

1. If you want to rush through pre-searing I'd suggest you do at least the skill trainer's quests for your professions. This will allow you to enter post-searing with all the skills you need to start off in the game and will save you Skill Point's so you don't need to buy them from a Skill Trainer.

Although you can get a few of the pre-searing skills from npc's around Old Ascalon as well, so you can rush there. However you will then likely end up having to rely on the henchies to mainly do the killing for you... I'd still suggest at least doing the skill trainer's quest's in pre first.

If you do all the quests in pre-searing you'll end up level 6-8, which is perfectly ample for post-searing.. you can do well enough at level 4-6 too..

The only quest's you HAVE to do to get through pre-searing is the 1st quest given by Sir Tydus (go meat your profession's primary skill teacher), the quest by the primary profession trainer right outside Ascalon & the quest to get a second profession. Once you have done those you can talk to Sir Tydus and head off to post-searing. At least as far as I'm aware those are the only absolutely essential quest's you have to do.. the rest are optional.

2. Money isn't really that relevant till you get further into the game. The only way to get money is to go out and kill critters, pick up the loot they drop and sell it at a merchant. As you go through the game the critters should drop better and better loot that sells for more..

but basically if you pick up and sell everything to a merchant as you play, you should always have all the money you need to play the game normally... assuming you only spend your money upgrading armor and buying runes as you play along. If you spend enough money on player sold items, you'll likely have to "farm" for gold..

"Farming" is where you repeatedly hit an area/group and kill them for their loot. IE like in pre-searing if you kept going through the catacombs and killing the gargoyles for their loot.. you'd be "farming" the gargoyles..

As for pre-searing.. you should leave that with ~1.5-2K gold if you play through all the quest's, less if you rush through pre-searing to get to post-searing.

Shimus - OMG, didn't you get bored farming pre-searing for that 5-10k gold? LOL Then again, pre-searing is very nice.. and I always like my time there and end up delaying my leaving and doing a bit of farming.. hhee.. but most I???ve ever made in pre-searing was 3-4K.. LOL
