Knight's Armor
With the Knight's armor, do the absorpsion runes that are preapplied stack or do they conflict with each other?

Once upon a time, many people asked the same questions, over and over again, and this became a great annoyance to many other people. This led to the invention of the search button.
= Wear ONE piece of Knight's Armour, and ONE absorbsion rune. Your whole body will be gain the benefits of both. msih Last edited by darkMishkin; Nov 21, 2005 at 03:33 PM // 15:33.. |

Only the one highest rune of a particular type creates a positive effect. All applied runes create their respective effect on health, regardless of their positive effect for a character.
What this means is this: If you apply 5 minor runes of absorption to your 5 pieces of armor, you get the effect of 1 minor rune of absorption for your character. If you apply 5 superior runes of absorption to your 5 pieces of armor, you get the effect of 1 superior rune of absorption. If you apply 5 superior runes of healing to your 5 pieces of armor, you get the effect of 1 superior rune of healing, but 5 times the superior rune health reduction (-75 health each). If you apply 1 minor rune of absorption, 1 major rune of absorption, and 1 superior rune of absorption to 3 pieces of your armor, you get the effect of 1 superior rune of absorption. If you apply 1 minor rune of healing, 1 major rune of healing, and 1 superior rune of healing to 3 pieces of your armor, you get the effect of 1 superior rune of healing, but the negative health effect from the major rune of healing and the superior rune of healing. |

Looking at this thread, I am left confused as to whether they stack or not. According to one user that quoted something from the Guild Wars website, they stack, in a sense. According to others, Knight's boots would suffice for the entire body. So which is it and why?

Because it's a "Global" Effect, my friend. "Global" means you only need one for the whole effect you'd get wearing a full suit of it.
Example: Instead of getting full Knights because you think it'll keep reducing damage, you're wrong. One piece suffices; it gives you the absorption. Urban Legend: You need all pieces because the knight's reduction only applies to the location it's on. WRONG. It's a "Global" effect, thus one piece reduces on a whole. Also with absorption runes, it stacks ontop of the already "Global" knight's effect, but don't put in multiple runes, because runes don't "stack" allowing for super reduction. One rune cancels another rune of the same type out. In effect: You're wearing knight's boots <with whatever else armor> with an absorption rune in it..and you're hit for damage. Damage is calculated, THEN the effects from knight's/absorption rune kicks in to reduce damage. It doesn't matter what slot you put the knight's armor on, personally, just for something different with cool graphics: Platemail Chest/Helm Knight's Boots/Gloves and Gladiator Leggings. Makes you lookin mean and armored--while wearing shorts =) Hope this clarified. --The Shim |

To be a real warrior you need 1 absorbsion rune, and one piece of knight's/ascalon armour. This is true until Arenanet fix the armour, but they haven't done it yet and people have known about it for a very very long time.
Wearing knight's boots will give you an overall reduction in damage. Wearing Knight's boots and gloves will give the same reduction in damage. Thus there is no point wearing more than one piece of knight's unless you like its appearance. |
