I started a Mo/Ele last night and have taken on the task of flooding pre-sear with high dmg weapons(farming char)....Free Belt Pouches (farming the bandits) and Icy Loadstones (Farming Ice Elements). I'm currently lvl10 (have not done any quests...with the exception of my very first monk quest and have accepted the quests I needed to get my second set of monk skills and my first set of ele skills.) Currently I can only get XP from Char and Ice Eles....If you see anyone giving away belt pouches, high dmg(for pre-sear) weapons, Icy Loadstones, or Bear Pelts That's me being stoopid =D

Oh yeah, by the way, did you spot any really good weapons. I've found a 13-20 Hammer, but I'm not a great fan of Hammers, I've also found a 5-16 Axe, which I'm carying now. 10-13 is my record for swords. And a question. That you can't salvage runes with a normale Salvage Kit I know. But can you salvage upgrades with it? Sine I have some nice ones, but I don't want to try it, and actually only had chance to get Wood Planks in the first place |

I have left old Ascalon at lv 8 with my characters because it was increasingly hard to find something that gave experience to me after a kill. Of course there was all the Charr over the North Wall but they killed me more then I killed them lol.

Chars level up at different XP
I think the characters may level up at diffent rates, which might explain some of the discrepancies in the levels people think they can attain pre-sear.
I always assumed that all characters leveled up at the same XP levels, but I have a case that may show differently. Last weekend, I got my wife hooked on GW. We both started new characters: Mine was Monk and chose Mesmer secondary. She chose Elementalist with a Monk secondary. We were playing all the same quests, but I beat her to every next level. By the time I hit level 5, she needed 600 more XP to hit level 5. Dwig |

Ok, The question that I have to ask is this: Has anyone ever eliminated all the char around the big cauldren in the North Wall mission? Wouldn't that mean, in theory, that the searing was averted, lol ?

All characters level up at the same rate. You just be killing different amounts of enemies, or the quests could give you different amounts of exp. |

Sure, if you know exactly what the enemy is up to, you can probably win. But someone keeps ressurecting those dang Charr, and one day they'll inevitably figure out whatever they're doing. Quote:

If Anet put expert salvage kits in pre-searing then no one would ever want to leave, the searing would never take place, and the Anet business model would be shot. lol
Maybe there should be a count down to searing for each new character so people would hurry up and get out. But I'm just as guilty as some. I have one character, a level 10 warrior, and I haven't left yet because I'm not sure what to be as a secondary. Don't want to do the over done wa/mo combo. |

- You get experience relative to the level of the monster killed compared to your own level; that amount is divided by the number of people in the party. So lower level characters get more experience for killing the same monster as a higher level character. Everyone gets the same amount of experience from quests, too, but not everyone gets the same quests. Also, because it's mostly the same experience going to everyone, once someone falls behind, they are likely to stay fallen behind. (Mostly.) |
