Although Esus seemed pleased with the response to this thread I do want to add one point. Players are interested in buying materials in the orders that have been posted but selling to the traders can be underestimated for the amount of money you can make. Keep an eye on their prices and sell at the best times, it might be a pain to have to hold on to 250 or 500 planks but it will be worth it if you can make an extra 500g or more.
When you get later on in the game start expert salvaging everything white and you can very easily start maxing out the stacks of materials you have. In just a short amount of time doing this I was decked out in black grottos 15k. Plus knowing the limits of the traders prices means you can grab the opportunity when a player is buying for more. FYI: I never never seen trader prices for plant fibers, bones and granite slabs change from 10g for 10, so if you can find better from a player then take it |

To add: When I said packrat and turn them into rare matierals, some of it is a profitable business. Others...not so much. Use it at your indescretion <got a PM stating they were losing money?> So I just though I'd reiterate sometimes it's better to just plain sell to a vendor then to turn them into rare crafting mats. Have fun!
