PVP/PVE Character?
I heard that many people are playing PVP Unlock characters instead of their PVE character and that it would be foolish to play with the PVE character for PVP. Most people say it's because you have access to all the best weapons and whatever. But I just want to know why you would want to play a PVE Character in the first place if you want to be competitive in PVP later on? Don't get me wrong. I just mean that if I want to play a Ranger in PVP (as I do want to) why should I play one in PVE when I hear that they are rarely picked for groups. Is there any point to that?
Don't flame me, I'm noob and I don't even have the game yet! 4 days, man! |

well, not to bag on you,but rangers, dont need to be picked for group, because they are a group,my ranger solos so many things, that groups seem uselses, its how you use your ranger, and if its good, some use theri secondary attribute, which i usually see as monk, would bring healing breeze etc.when thats so stupid when all you need is whirling defense/lighting reflexes then troll unguent, and for pvp, once you create your char,it has many bows that you dont have,at a much higher dmg rate, just make suer you got ranger skills ahah

People are jerks when making groups. Rangers are picked, just much less often then the "holy trinity" of Warrior, Elementalist, Monk. However, Rangers can be powerful damage dealers or tanks in their own right. If you want to play a Ranger in PvP, you should play PvE first to unlock the skills and weapon upgrades you'll want for PvP.

Thanks for the replies. Just another question, can you unlock, say, Elementalist class skills as a Necromancer or do you have to be Elementalist (I hope so).

You can unlock skills from your primary and secondary. So if you were a Necro/Ele, you could unlock both.

I think technically you can unlock every skill with just one character by changing your secondary over and over till you have them all, i haven't tried it but i have switched my secondary several times.

If i ever play with ya il ltake ya in groups. Interrupt rangers are VERY valuable, sadly the half of the guildwars population think that they need more mending w/mo's.......

I was lead to belive that you could use any class combo and still be effective if you took the time to find which skills worked best with what? Am I missing something here, or do some people think that certain classes are more *Elite* than others? |

There aren't many N/E's for some reason. But there's nothing wrong with the combo. Just hasn't had it's moment in the sun yet.
I was just giving the new guy a hard time. I'm allowed. I'm N/E also. |
