Chance to get green items from bosses?
ok so i'm trying to figure out aprox how many times i will have to kill tanzit to get one of his items to drop.
tanzit clever and tanzit shield (idk name) ok so i'm going out with 7 henchies so that's 1/8 that I will get the item that drops and 2/3 that if it's a green item it will be the one I want what I'm unsure of is what is the chance that he will drop a green item at all and i'm also wondering if it's the same for every boss or if their is a different ratio for each ok so let me reword this if i kill a boss of my own what is the chance that he/she will drop a green item --- The silencer makes a whisper of the gunshot. I hold her close until she's gone. I'll never know what she was running from. I'll cash her check in the morning. |

There used to be a Sorrow's Furnace section of this forum. I clearly remember it had some threads covering pretty much this exact topic. Maybe a mod can guide you there. However, I don't think you will find the exact probability you are looking for. I suggest you take the initiative yourself, make several thousand Tanzit runs and count how many clever's (sic) drop for you.

The SF forum was merged with the Tyrian Explorers' League because the newness of SF had passed and not very many people browsed that forum anymore.
At any rate, I don't have any of the statistical data I had made on my SF runs, but I remember the chance of a boss dropping any random green is about 30%. I'd have to get my computer working before I check on specific bosses and the like.

To increase your chances, reduce the number of henchies you take with you. If you play this game well, you can do it with a party of 5, you and 4 henchies, but I usually go out with a party of 6 so I don't have to struggle so much in some of the difficult areas. At any rate, going out with 7 henchies is overkill.

or go with 5 man oro farm teams, after 9 hours and flints wand.....worst green item in history, I finally got Tanzit's Razorstone.
Ive noticed that i need about 5-6 runs before I get one green drop, same for everyone else, no one gets 2 greens in one run, if they did....we'd murder them. |

Well if using 8 henchies, do the math. 100% Droprate of regular items is suddenly decresed to 12.5%, ontop of that killing a boss that can by chance <30%> drop any random green, if you hit the 12.5% it'll drop FOR YOU you still are taking the off chance you strike an additional 30% out of 100, dropping a green for you. This same applies for Real People in group of 8 too, as henchmen effect droprates just as regular people would.
This is my rough math, anyways. It could be more fine-tuned then this, but assuming you hit the 12.5% you need, hitting a 1/3 chance after that is pushing it. But thats why we kill enemies with groups of 8 and hope to get something. We're gamblin people! --The Shim |

Maybe this is an anomaly, but I've been farming the Furnace (and Grenth's on the way there) for the past week with my husband and just the healer henchies. Sometimes we bring his pet. We've made about 4 or 5 runs total in this time. We've gotten 10 greens between us since last week. Last night, we got our first double drop.
I have noticed though, that this is only average. We had one really good night where we came out with 6 greens and then the next couple of runs netted us nothing. We still haven't gotten any of the really high end stuff yet. |

I've been soloing Grenth's and have killed 9 bosses so far (with no henchmen), and have gotten two greens. That's roughly (albeit a very small sample size) a 20% chance.
Divide that by the number of party members that you have (including henchmen), and that should tell you what your chance of a green dropping should approximate with each kill. For example, if there's eight of you, then you have about a 3% chance of a green dropping. Last edited by Jetdoc; Dec 13, 2005 at 02:44 PM // 14:44.. |

Time to re-told my wonderful greens farming runs.
During this past 3 days of farming (note that i only played 2 hours per day) I got the following. Malinon Skull Crasher (2) Galigord's Rod (2) Gorgnar's Blade Rago Flame Wand The Kinderock One run while doing it with 5 people, of the monk dropped leaving 4 of us to do orozar runs. We took orozar out of SF and fought Rago. Thinking that we won't get anything good, the moment Rago died, it surprise the hell out of me. 3 Greens.... Thats right 3. He dropped his flame staff, and wand and kinderock for me. I love 5 men team for farming! |

I don't often go farming in SF, but in two trips I once got three items- the 10/10 cane, Bortak's Bone Staff, and (lucky me) Flint's Artifact.
