Undead, Skeletons...Tengu and Avari???
Hi,
I looked though search but didn't find much that would help me here. Is there a guide anywhere stating what creatures belong to the different classes or anything about creature classification? For example: Are Shadow Creatures classified as Undead? What class are Aatxes and Abysals? Are Avari in the Shiverpeaks really Tengu (both are birds)? Are bone dragons skeltons or undead? skull |

Avicara and Caromi - Tengu Bone Dragons - Undead. Shadow creatures are their own category. Aatxes are classified under minotaurs. Shadow Beasts are shadow creatures. Abyssals? Might be trolls, can't tell. If not, they're shadow. This is coming from my personal experience, anyways. --The Shim |

I'm not sure if shadow creatures are undead... they don't take double damage from smiting prayers, so they might not be. Bone Dragons are undead though.
Dammit I got beat to it x2. |

OK.
Thanks for the replies. I guess I am a bit confused about weapons MODs that give amplified damage against certain creatures. i.e. What are classified as Skeletons and what are classified as Undead? So will my bow grip of skeleton slaying +20% will work against Skeleton Ether Breakers for example...even though they are considered as Undead? And what creatures are affected by an Undead bow grip? I am confused. skull |

Skeletons (e.g. skeleton archer, necrid horseman, and those dog things) are undead, but not all undead are skeletons.
There's also e.g. zombies, grasping ghouls, and executioners - the guys with flesh on the bones. |

Ok... If undead are skeletons, then what is Skeleton slaying for? And dont say not all skeletons are undead... Deathbane and skeleton slaying must be one in the same then. Has anybody tested this difference? Best place to test this is FOW or that undead quest in beetletun. Trouble is I dont have a skeleton mod, only undead cause Ive always thought it was the same. Anything dead that walks is undead, skeleton or not.

warlocks, Eledude (forgot name),Grasping Ghoul, wraith, Big hammer guy (forgot name), and undead cleric dudes. the "skelletons" would me, skelleton mesmers, rangers, hellhounds, beserkers, raging cadavers (pre-searing), angry soul (pre-searing) and skull reaver (pre-searing). the difference between undead and skelletons i think is: effects such as poinson, bleeding and deep wound work on Warlocks, hammer dudes and Ghouls, those effects dont work on rangers or mesmers |

Ye, I would go for 'Bleeders' being undead (read: zombies), and the rest as jack skellingtons.
By the way; are all undead weak Vs Blunt? Or just Skeletons? |

Undead arn't skeletons, Skeletons are undead. Skeletons are a group that belongs in a bigger group Undead (IMO) Quote:

So then whats the point of skeleton slaying? Why single out a small part of a larger group? And yes I worder my statement wrong, that doesnt mean I didnt understand what we were talking about.

I assume that maybe the Vs skeleton bonuses might go higher than the Vs Undead ones.
This is just speculation. |

I was thinking this to be the case with Tengu slaying as well as there is only a very limited area where creatures named 'Tengu' exist in the game. But understanding that Caromi and Avicara are also covered under the same weapons Mod, I think this is OK. However with the Undead / Skeleton thing this to me makes no sense. It is like creating a 'Jungle Troll' Slaying MOD within the 'Troll' slaying MOD. Oh well. I have to go out and test in FoW if my skeleton slaying bow grip works at all. skull |
