I'm afraid that's what trading is, in GW and in real life.
You learn the value of things in GW by trading alot, talking with other traders, and just watching the market. Most people don't have enough time to do this, and would usually end up making a deal metaphorically in the dark. Luckily you can post your item in the price check forum, and someone will give you a suggested price. |

The advantages will always be with those who spend a huge amount of time trading. It's not much different than buying a car ... it is something that, at best, you do every couple of years but the salesman does several times a day. So you're at an experience, knowledge handicap.
For stuff under 15k or so, it's not worth worrying about ... so what if you pay 1 or 2k too much? But for higher ticket items it's smart to spend some time hanging on at LA1 listening to trades. Keep in mind, of course, that just because you hear that the current offer on an item is, say, 100k and 2 ectos that is not always so. There are times when sellers make up offers, just to start the ball rolling (other traders who want to be clear that the c/o is real will sometimes name the person making the offer ... that can backfire but it's a topic for another time). And, as mentioned, there's the etc., buy and sell forums here. |
