Question about ranger's interuptions.
do concusion shot have the same casting time as interupting shot? so,is savage shot the best as it is the fastest?
And do the speed of arrows helps in interuption?it help in a decent amount or a VERY VERY least amount? Is ''favorable winds'' a preparation? So if u cast ''favourble winds'' before using ''barrage'' that cancels all preparation, will ''favourable winds'' effects on ''barrage?'' |

All of the Ranger interrupts have the same, almost instantaneous, cast time. There is no "best" interrupt, it depends on your situation and the kind of build you are trying to make. For a reasonably spammable interrupt Savage Shot is better, but Concussion Shot applies the Dazed condition so you can keep interrupting with normal attacks.
The speed of the arrows does help in interruption depending on your distance from the target. No, favorable winds is not a preperation. Yes, it will stack with Barrage. |

One think I will add: Concussion Shot only interrupts spells, so use Interrupting Shot, Savage Shot or Punishing Shot versus Res Sig, Heal Sig, Giant Stomp whatever, save your Concussion Shot for casters.

plus concussion shot is energy heavy (25 with no expertise) so even with expertise, it can drain you a lot. But it is satisfying to interupt spells constantly

To answer the question about interrupting as a ranger:
There are basically two styles: Interrupt by volume - spam interrupts at him, some will hit. Particularly useful with Choking gas, Incendiary arrows, but also doable by using a few of the bow interrupts and just cyclying them. Pick and choose. Against most fooes this is done by "babysitting" them - waiting for them to cast then hitting the interrupt. This is best done with a low flight-time bow (composite for example) and from a close range, as the delay in flight time can cause you to miss. It is hopeless with a flat bow at max range essentially, unless interrupting a maelstrom or similarly long acasting time spell. Picking and choosing works best on 2 second+ spells and skills. Against some types of opponent you can use pick and choose easily, such as hydras and other creatures/players that cast very long casting time spells. For these, try to wait until they are well into the casting, to waste as much of their time as possible. Quote:

Some PvP Tips:
Necros are easy to interrupt, they have lots of long cast spells, and no necro dodge skills. This makes them particularly vulnerable to Concussion Shot, and the Dazed condition it causes. Monks tend to be predictable, relying on one or two skills to keep themselves alive. Distracting a Reversal of Fortune or Orison of Healing can put a monk right out of business. Mesmers are dangerous because of their fast-casting attribute, but they do have long casting spells. Eles can vary, but usually are good targets for interrupts. When you see spells such as Meteor Storm, you can afford to wait right til the end of the cast before you interrupt it. Concussion Shot is worth it versus elamentalists too. Warriors (pure warriors) have only two skills that must be interrupted. Healing Signet and Res Signet. Because warriors should not be using long cast spells it is particularly obvious when they are using a Res Sig, because they spend 3 seconds waving their axe in the air. Rangers tend to blind you if you irritate them. They have long-cast preparations however, spirits, and ofcourse, the key interrupt: Troll Ungent. You might need to spam interrupts (vs Troll only) if they have whirling defenses up though. Long live distracting shot, mish |

In addition to all the excellent advice above:
Interrupts in PvE can be very easy when you get to know your enemy. You can learn to predict their casting cycle. Good knowledge of other classes' skills (casting times, effects, and their associated image) helps you to know whether to try to disrupt or not. For instance don't even try to disrupt stances because of their instant cast times. Only attempt to pick off 1 second or less skills unless you are on top of the caster or very close under Favorable Winds or Read the Wind. Many people also forget that the average person's reaction time is .2-.3 seconds. (Closer to .6-.8 if you include the reaction of clicking the mouse.) |

My input...
Fungus has the key for PvE. For instance, the Dragon Lich in Fissure of Whoa (yeah, cuz its like..whoa!) casts Chilblains then Plague Touch. Well, just get ready to Distract that Plague Touch and he stays poisoned. And use the keyboard. There's much more control than clicking. The only time I use my mouse is for moving the camera, lol. |

AS for 1 second spells - since you can't shot in under a second - it takes prediction...if you see that a mob (or player in PvP) is spamming something - you can time to shot BEFORE he actually uses the skill, and it hits and interupts as he uses it.
I've interupted plenty of Spec.Agony's like that. |

One example of easy prediction is the Forgotten Rangers in Dragon's Lair. They will shoot a few arrows then charge towards your warrior. This is because they are going to use Throw Dirt to blind. So when you see one of them running forward, get ready to interrupt and your warrior will be infinately grateful.

learn the skills. If i see a monk go to use Mark of Protection, I know it has a longer cast time than Orison of Healing. I never waste time trying to interupt Orison. Long cast times are obviously easier to interupt. You can also try to guess when they're gonna do it, and attempt the interupt before you see a skill. Leads to a few 'wasted' shots but its satisfying when you interupt a 1sec cast spell You learn to get a feel. Just practise it. I'm not a great interupter by any means, but i do ok at it.
Concussion shot and Choking gas are great for spell casters btw. Choking gas will stop them and any casters next to them for a few spells, and concussion, whilst energy heavy, keeps them dazed and again shuts them down for a short while. Many interupts for one carefully timed shot. |
