Value of known mods UNID'd
Hello everyone
I picked up an axe in the desert yesterday that is gold, req 8 Spiked axe and when I equip it I gain 30 HP. I havent ID'd the axe yet because I am curious what you all think. I am wondering if there is more balue in it unid'd because someone can unlock a perfect axe grip of fortitude for pvp AND get a perfect axe grip of fortitude for PVE. Let me know what you all think about that.' PS I never buy unid'd items for this reason, most people know about this (that you can equip the item and figure out what mods are on it) I especially will not buy unid'd shields. But in this case (assuming I am an honest individual for the purpose of this thread) would this item be worth more? |

you won't be able to convince people it is +30 health, since they need to have it and check it for themselves...
i say unidentify and sell like it is, but i'm no expert... |

you can add the buyer to your group and show him your health before and after you equipe the item.
he will notice that you gained +30. |

He will notice that you equip an item with the same appearence, that gives you 30hp, no guarantee that this is the same item you will trade.
If you wish to trade an 'IDed' unidentified item, you will need to trade with someone you trust. Any of your guildies need a 30hp unlock? |

I have done that actually. Grouped with people and did the "My health is 530, Im weilding a sundering battlepick of defense" "My health is 560 Im wielding a spiked axe" thing. But obviously I could show that, then when he is convinced and buys I could put a different unid'd axe in the trade. I know its scetchy, but like I said earlier, just ASSUME that I am the most trustworthy person in all of GW, would this be worth more unid'd? thats what I am curious about.

Have 530 HP with Axe 1 on..Change to This Axe (Axe 2 for this example), ping its name for him, then quickly change to Axe 3 with perfect grip and Ping your new 560 health.. Then sell him Axe 2 which probably has like +16% vs charr or something on you lol. ---------- Simple fact is, you aren't going to get more out of it unless you have a REALLY good (or stupid) friend that hasn't unlocked the axe grip yet. Mostly you'll just be called a scammer though. Probably reported a few times, and so on..But no biggie. EDIT IN: and no it wouldn't be - Unlocking the grip for PvP really isn't a concern for someone that already can afford a +30 grip BELIEVE ME.. Unlocking it only costs like 2,000faction Last edited by Former Ruling; Jan 04, 2006 at 02:40 PM // 14:40.. |

Thanks Former Ruling for the input.
I thought of that too, thats why IF I did find a buyer I would empty out my entire inventory except for 2 axes (one ID'd and one unid'd) take screenshots, then do the ping health, ping axe thing and take screenshots, then do the trade and take screenshots. Becuase I can trust myself to be honest, but like you said, they would just say, nope it wasnt +30 and demand their money back, etc. If the +30 is easy to get in PVP, then this seems like a lot of trouble to try to make a little extra money off a nice grip. So I'll probably let a guildie ID it and then just sell this joker to someone. Thanks for the input PS DONT BUY UNID'D ITEMS |

I realize this is late, but it would seem there's a partial solution to trust -- build up a good reputation selling other stuff through the auction system.
It's not perfect, but it might work. |

I've had that happen so many times I couldn't tell you the number. My rule is that it isn't what you want until you actually have it. That way, I'm not disappointed.

Thats a good rule LOL!
well the good news of all this, is that I did unlock the +30 haft (I thought I already did, but I was mistaken) I would have liked the 40K I oculd have got from selling though And that was something I should have done NOT thought I was lucky for getting the drop till AFTER I salvaged. It was like a cruel joke, it would have been better if it had a Cruel mod on it. |
