this game was not designed for duels, so i don't think they'll even inplent it
one way to have duel though : arrange a non ranked gvg battle, and just say you ONLY target the opponent with the same number :P duel all you want |

I'm sure someone's suggested this in the suggestions section, because it is a fun idea.
The Chapter2 updates to Guild Halls may enable this to some extent, most useful for scientifically ripping apart skills, armour and general game mechanics. Some people have organised there own 1v1, 2v2 tournaments in the past. I found this one quickly, though entry is now closed. As a final point though, GW is built for team-play, not individuals, so ANet themselves would never introduce such a feature. mishkin |

why Not??
I do not understand why people think duelling would be a bad idea. No loot should be lost from losing, however bets could be made if aggreed upon. (This would be an implemented part of the game otherwise scams could occur) Both duelists would see the other persons duelling rank(yes, i just made that up, but it would be good to have one) and class, then they both say howmuch they wish to bet on the duel, with 0g being one of the choices. The bet amount is the lowest bet from either person. Say player1 bet 50g that he would win, and player2 bet 5k, both players would then bet 50g (as it is the lower of the 2 bets) and the winner takes home 100g (his own 50g and his opponants 50g).
You would be able to challenge anyone to a duel, as long as the person you are challenging has the "Duel" option ticked, this would be found in the friends list, much like the status (e.g. you can be away, busy, offline, online, now you will have a box next to that one giving you an option of duelling on or off). If your duelling is set to on then at anytime in a town you can be challanged to a duel by another player, which you then have the choice of accepting or declining. This would look much like the trade window popup you get just before you actually start to trade with somebody. If somebody has duelling on then there will be a small symbol above their head so that everyone knows you accept duels. I am undecided on whether you should to let your opponant see your duel rank before he accepts the fight. Comments/Criticisms Welcomed -THE M- |

The only problem I see with dueling: how could a healing monk possibly win in any other scenario than boring your opponent to death?

Dueling in most games is really lame. If a game has any sense of balance at all then a 1v1 duel will be a total joke. In games like Lineage or WoW where you can pump healing pots it becomes a who can afford and hold the most powerful potion contest.
This game is balanced and designed for a whole team to work together in a complex checks and balance. Personally I could care less if this feature is added or not, but I do think it will be lame. I can pretty much see the outcome now: Forum Thread 1: Should the opposing player be allowed to run around just to farm faction? I tried to chase this guy and he just kept running until the timer went out..... Forum Thread 2: Build X is so overpowered because when I doorway duel I always loose.... Basically this is just another can of worms to fuel complaints, nerf requests and whining. I think the time would better be spent (by ANet) on improving the current PvP areas. I watched a HoH TV match yesterday that had to be one of the most boring matches ever. It consisted of 2 teams sitting around waiting for the 2 minute mark and the Red IWAY team trying to kill one of the heros before that. I would much rather see something change to heat up the action there than a silly 1v1 arena. |

This isn't the suggestion forum, this is the Q&A forum for people with questions about the game. Go search for "dueling" if you're interested. Closed.
