Bow questions
Is there a bow that has armor penetration?
And where it says armor penetration 10% chance does that mean it has a 10% chance of penetrating? |

Usually they will be something along the lines of: [Armor Penetration 10% (Chance X %)] Which means: It will penetrate 10% of the armor, which adds on some amount of damage dependant on the armor, but this penetration only happens X out of 100 times. |

This is definitely a search-barable question. But, to avoid this popping up again, yes. The Horn, Ivory, and Shadow bows all have built in 10% Armor Penetration, and yes, a sundering string that is 10% Armor Penetration(10%, 9%, whatever your fancy) means that X% of your shots will have 10% armor penetration.

haven't verified this, but my understanding is that horn bows have a built in 10 pts of ap.
what that means is that they basically subtract 10 pts off the target's armor (I believe.....) I suppose it's possible that it's actually a subtraction of 10% of the armor value, though. go read the extensive armor article on this site, and I think it'll tell you for sure. |

Hornbows have 10% AP always on. This is Base AP. This means it does not stack with other Base AP sources.
Sundering has a 10% chance of +10% AP. The plus there means it's Bonus AP, so it stacks with any other AP at all. So you have 20% AP 10% of the time, and 10% AP the other 90%. And yes, it removes that percentage of the target's armor. So striking a 60 AL target with 10% AP only removes 6 AL, so that attack would function as if they were wearing 54 AL. Regardless, Sundering strings are crap. Vampiric gives WAY more damage. |

Yes, I have read that all Horn Bows have an inbuilt 10% armor penetration. Other than that class of bows, bows with armor penetration will have 'Sundering' in their names e.g. 'Sundering Long Bow of Marksmanship'.
Yes, e.g Armor penetration +10% (Chance: 10%) = there is a 10% chance that your hit will have 10% armor penetration. Last edited by Yakumo; Jan 19, 2006 at 10:08 AM // 10:08.. |

I have never seen the inherent 10% AP of Horn Bows verified. Even if it exists, the poor refire rate makes them undesirable weapons. You can always tell when Sundering procs, the damage is considerably higher. However, since it occurs only 10% of the time, the DPS added due to the upgrade is insignificant.

The built in armour penetration on Horn Bows is now confirmed; in game.

It is also worth remembering that Vs most warriors, wearing defaulto facto Gladiator's armour, any Elemental string will add 20% armour penetration, 100% of the time. mish PS Long live the ranger, down with the assasin. |

I had read somewhere that it just converts 3 pts of damage into healing on you.
although, how that would work if you only do 2 pts, I have no idea. sweet --- 3 extra pts for me. I'll have to use that sword more often. the degen can be a super pain in the ass if you're absent minded like me, though. |
