I want to be ranger but....
what the hell is all this point system about...
i just started that pvp event thing at the 20th jan (today for anyone who didnt notice :P) and all i find is that i have no clue at all what the hell to do with the moves/skills/types/class's etc.. please someone tell me step by step what skills to put in, whats the best layout for a ranger (pure hard hitting ranger) as i know that rangers normally have massive damage with a weakness of poor defence which isnt bothering me at all, i love being the damage dealer with a price of Defence/HP being low. thanx - Soldja |

You need to clarify your question a little.
point system? you mean the faction point system? if so, then the faction points are used to unlock skills and runes and weapon mods for PvP only characters. As for a hard hitting ranger, i use a fire spike and i guess you can try it out: Equip: Fiery Horn Bow of Enchanting Attributes: I usually tweak this around, but focusing on Fire, Expertise and Marksmanship and drop the rest on Wilderness Survival. Skills: Conjure Flame Read the Wind [You can try Kindle or Ignite arrows if you like] Dual Shot Punishing Shot [Elite] Savage Shot Whirling Defense Troll Unguent Res Sig |

Well... 1. you have to unlock the skills you want in PvE in ember, quests, or cap elite. 2. You also have to unlock a fiery bow string when you id a bow or unlock it at the preist guy. 3. if you want to do Iyra song did in his/her build then your secondary must be an elementalist. 4. it would help if you unlocked some minor runes and like a major/sup vigor rune to "up" your health...That should cover it....i think

Your other option is to use the pre-built templates for a character. Those come with the skills they need, so you don't have to unlock anything right away.

Try the R/A template, its decent for piling on conditions. Besides if you "heard" that they were rubbish and didnt try it for yourself, how can you be so sure? Starting a brand new class with ZERO skills in it will involve spending a lot of faction points for a decent build (not to mention tweaking the skills, plus runes and weapon mods) |

You need to create a roleplaying character instead of a PvP only character. The PvP only character can only use skills, upgrades, and runes you've unlocked on your PvE character. All of the padlocks you see on all of the skills are locks because you have not yet unlocked the skills. Going straight into PvP in GW is foolish unless you want to use the sub-par templates. I reccomend playing around with PvE first to get a hang of skills, then move onto PvP.

If you just joined for the weekend, play a premade character...Everyone who says they suck...usually suck themselves. I can take anyone of them and win at least a few matches.
Just pick a character and go with it. |

i love my ranger he is awesome i have most of my elite skills but u can only use one at a time when u leave a town but for the most part my r/monk is a good all around char..... takes some time to get use to playing but once you get the hang of it is a great addition to any team plus u can have a pet and rangers are very effective in UW if you ever get into framing
