You can salvage them or sell them. I don't think there are any collectors for them.

Unfortunately, there are no collectors for these "collector's items". Either sell them or salvage them into glittering dust.

Nah, they are used as cash. Check this out: When you form a party of say 8 people, and a drop of gold hits, and its 80 gold. Great, but then you split it with all members, letting you walk away with just 10. But, when you get a token its worth 30...has anyone ever gotten a drop from a regular enemy (non-boss), that was over 240? Probably not, so the dev's decided to give you a lil cash for your effort :b
