Some Christmas (Wintersday) Gifts will open up as a lump a coal (get it? Har)... The irony is it's actually worth the most (besides Candy Canes if you find the right buyer).
I thought I may have expert salvaged Glowing Hearts into coal before, too but I don't remember for sure. And yes, I do believe a Stone Fury (slightly higher level stone elementals on the way to Grendich/Nolani) dropped a piece of coal for me during the Gargoyle Skull farming craze that was a few weeks ago. |

The best place i have found for charcoal drops are imps that you find on the way to TOA, there's this one spot that had a sort of hole in the ground with 4 tall stone..umm statues/pillars i guess you could call it, think in the talmark wilderness, or on the way to fight the bone dragons in a zone below TOA, like running sorta to santcum cay, but more to the east, and over a bridge, they drops lots out there.

I expert salvaged 55 Frigid Hearts that were from IDS farming in Mineral Springs.
I got 2 charcoal in the first 7 Hearts...and only ONE more from the next 48. So, not only did I get 52 near worthless granite slabs, I spent over 800g in salvage kits, also short the money I could have gotten trading the hearts for collector items or just merchanting. So my conclusion is, FRIGID HEARTS are no good for charcoal. I'll go collect some Glowing Hearts to compare. UPDATE: Bad news: Sample size was only 11 Glowing Hearts, 1 charcoal from expert salvage. Not worth it yet. Good news: 3 dropped from the around 30 fire imps I killed. 2 from the same one even. UPDATE#2: Went on one more run just to see what would drop, only 1 lump of charcoal in all the imps out around the Stone monument Mercenary mentioned. 15 Glowing Hearts expert salvaged yeilded ZERO charcoal. I'd say you're better off Griffon farming and buying your charcoal from the material trader. Anyways, I've got 8 in my inventory, PM me tomorrow afternoon and they're all yours, for a nominal fee of course Last edited by Nater; Jan 25, 2006 at 04:11 AM // 04:11.. |

I've found the best place to farm for charcoal is In Stingray strand - there's a few groups of Imps in that area that drop them, but they are rare drops, maybe 1 charcoal in every 20 - 25 imps killed.

hands of titan, fists of titan, basically all kind of monsters in the ring of fire drop "burned claws" or something like that. It can be expert salvaged into charcoal. I don't know about the other places but it is how i got my charcoal. Expert salvage anything that has burned or molten in front of it.

Lion's Arch <-> D'Alessio's Seaboard, fire imps. Did few runs to get 25 coals I need to make deldrimor steel..
And what it comes for making 1 coal out from 10 planks & 200g at artesan... 1 coal costs around 200g at the rare material trader |

I think charocal is one of the rarest drops also, as someone above said, expert salvage a million things to get 1 or 2.
What I did when I got my 15K Tormentor is just crafting it, that saved me a lot of headache trying to find or buy charocal. Its a lot easier to find wood. |

The elementals outside of Serenity Temple will occasionally drop charcoal as well. Sometimes when crafting parchement outside of Sardelac, I'll clear the map of elementals. I usually end up with one, sometimes two on a run.

ok this is gonna piss you guys off but charcoal is Easily obtained and VERY VERY cheap... Just go to fort ranik and go outside to the vendor there...
Charcoal is 200 gold + 10 wood. thats it... Not bad at all really... (DOH sorry 3 posts above me said already) People Always forget the materials traders outside of the towns, and most of the time they have difeferent stuff for sell then in the towns... Click the image attached for a SS of the vendor showing the Charcoal for sell and the Locked Set price. Not market driven... ingram... Last edited by =HT=Ingram; Jan 25, 2006 at 02:52 PM // 14:52.. |

Personaly, my secret charcoal gathering is the sanctum cay mission!
Right at the start of the mission go kill all the imps, & then if you feel like something else go kill the drakes and the giants to pass some time! Seriously though, those imps have given me almost all my charcoal over time! |

if it takes 25 imps to get 1 coal u may as well buy them as u can get way more GOLD from farming griffons in the same time then buying them.
but on the other hand i have seen many charcoal drop at the start of sanctum cay mission on those 6 or 7 imps. |
