Single Proffession characters.
I've seen a plain monk and ranger in post-searing (They had no secondary proffessions) And I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me how they did this.

As far as i know youdon't have to have a 2nd profession its completely up to you but it is a good idea to run a 2nd profession just for the extra skills you could use and stuff just in the beggining don't choose a 2nd profession just keep your single one

Choosing a second proffesion is a primary quest in pre-searing. You can not get into post-searing without having a second profession. It may have been different in the past, and it's just a case of extremely old characters popping up, or it's just a name display bug.

IIRC a long time ago you used to be able to go through the searing without getting a secondary profession. Whether this was a bug or a "design" fault (benefit? LOL).. it got changed not too long after GW's release so that you needed to have a secondary profession.
So it might be those are old, old character's that went through early on.. or it's a bug that your not seeing their secondary profession. |

PVP characters don't have to have secondary professions either, but if you saw one of these characters in the war camp then it wasn't a PVP character.

u used to be able to go 1 profession only... but I thought they changed it to a requirment for going to the academy that you have 2 professions... Maybe its back to the old way. just get to level 3 or 4 and go to academy... and off you go... Kinda messes up a little though as I dont thing you can get to full 200 attrib points without second profession.... I know PvP can do it no problem though...

You must have a secondary to cross to post. I have tried, with every character I have created, to cross with just the primary and he won't let you. Even in a group of two he will state that the one profession person is not ready.

if they havent vanished in the muck of time some of the threads were fun as people were yelling (BWE) that the warning to get a second profession had to be made much more prominent as they went through thinking they could get a secondary later on. Anet took no chances on somebody missing 10 warnings in a row and then complaining by making the secondary mandatory for the retail release. the yells back then were impressive |

i think i know how it used to be done...
Do all the quests up to the point where u 2nd prof.. join someone ready to go into the academy and they go and talk to that guy (with that name) then u both go to the academy and can get though without a 2nd prof. I may be wrong but that seems plausable.. its changed now tho Jiao |

IMHO a secondary profession should be an option. I know several who don't use their 2nd at all because for those skills to be effective you have to bring down the points of your primary and then it is not as effective it could/should be.
