Default Am I missing something here?

As a solo Monk, why would you give up 10 energy and use a sword/axe of any type? I used to use a staff with +15 energy and you can still have the +20% enchantments, skill recharge/casting speed improvements.

Masseur - you're missing the offhand that you can use.

HoD Sword + Collector's Healing Ankh = +17 energy, +20% enchantments, +20% recharge while using healing spells and +20% casting speed while using healing spells.

That's +2 energy better than any staff, and a collector's healing staff doesn't exist that gives you the 20% bonuses.

Well, while an HoD sword + focus item is better then a staff in every possible way this isn't that obvious for the Ffs + focus. When you compare the Ffs to a staff you basically trade in 3 energy for 10% chance in faster recharge. Whether or not this is worth it heavily depends on what kind of monk build you're running.

HOD Sword < Fiery Flame Spitter (10%) < Fiery Flame Spitter (15%)

Too bad I can't get my hands on a 15% one, even after 2 months

i don't think so... it really depends on the build ur running... i usually play a Boon/Prot Monk for Arenas and SS GvG's... and most of my "spam" spells are only a 2 sec recharge... i'd rather take the energy

Actually, this collector has such a staff. Of course the requirement is Divine Favor, but that shouldn't be an issue in a healing build. Put on a +5 energy and +20% enchant mod and you have basically the same combo as the HoD sword + collectors healing ankh. You're only 2 energy short of that combination but apparently a lot of people are willing to pay 400k for 2 energy.
