Chest/Farming Question
I feel kinda dumb askin after having 3 lvl 20 characters already but where do ppl get these perfect rare weapons from? I assume these good weapons come from chests, but because I never have luck getting anything good from them (always get purples (desert farming)), I don't know if they are simply drops. So my direct question is where do ppl either farm or chest hunt to get the best weapons and items. Thank you.

They usually "make" them.
Get a perfect max damage stat gold weapon, then add perfect mod upgrades to it. Now for shield, focus, and wand max stuff is very rare and you can not do mod upgrades to them. Drops themselves are random. Drop rates of stuff on the other hand, the more you farm in one area, the less your drops become until you go to another area. You can also add upgrades to the collectors (the ones you trade items too) max perfect items too but they will be blue in color. When you mod a weapon it will get an prefix or sufix added to the name. Example - Flame Sword, with two mods will be X Flame Sword X where X = the mod. If your not in to making gold max or finding a gold max, you can hunt from green items. Or keep 5 of each monster drop and see what the npc collectors have in Crystal Desert or Southern Shiver peaks (the best collector items in Chapter 1). The "higher" the area the better the odds of the really good stuff. To me the chests in the fire islands are worth buying some keys for but I don't buy them for any other areas. Perhaps that's just my limited experience though as I only use the keys that drop for me elsewhere.
I rarely get an item that is better than what I've already got and mine are not max for the most part - still have some energy +4 or armor +4, etc. I have plenty of guildies to pass along stuff to though so it is worth the time to hunt or try a chest. |

I've gotten a lot of garbage weapons, with the occasional good drop here and there. Some come from mobs, others from chests. It really depends on what weapons you are looking for. As some only come from FoW or UW like chaos axes, storm bows, eternal bows....and such. Other good items ive gotten came from the Fire ilses....chests and mobs. A few good weapons came from the southern Shiverpeaks area.
But the perfect weapon is rare. If you find a max damage weapon with a max damage modifier...ie +15%damage over 50%health...you can mod this weapon with the other mods to make your perfect weapon. If this was say an Chaos Axe with +15%^50health. You can put a 10/10 sundering axe haft and a +30 health axe grip to make a perfect Sundering Chaos Axe of Fortitude. But everybody has their preferences for perfection due to playing style. I personally like the Defense mods. But thats me. |

I always have great luck getting stuff I don't need. For instance, a ton of good bows and bow upgrades for my ranger that I never play. Plus, I'm too lazy and impatient to sell it over the trade channels.
