However, the answer is that ANet changed the item so that you only get a 10% bonus, as they decided 20% was too high. However that only affected new drops - ones obtained before the update stayed at 20%. |

Yep. The problem with the old Rockmolder is the fact that it requires 9 Illusion Magic. If you don't have the requirement (i.e. because you are a Domination/Inspiration Mesmer - the most common types), then the energy bonus is a lousy 3 versus the max 12 you normally get. As such, the old Rockmolder is a great tool for illusion mesmers...otherwise, it's not too great.

No. Rockmolder was nerfed because its was 20% on EVERY skill - not just one attribute skill set you get from other items.

Is another brilliant move from Anet like Denravi swords.

If you are implying that it should not be nerfed - then I disagree. EVERY skill 20/20 bonus is too much. Even a staff does not have that kind of power.
Also, by not removing it to those who already have I think it add another dimension to the economy - you know nerfed things like Dwarven, Denravi Sword, etc, etc. If you are implying they screwed up on design by putting it in the first place - you are correct of course. I guess they know that too since they did nerf it. |

Crimson obviously it should be nerfed.
Nerfed and *completely* removed from the game, as long with Denravi swords and +xx% unconditional weapons from months ago. |

Nerfed? Yes!
Completely remove? I don't know. I kind of like having these things in the game - legendary "uber" weapons. You know, 5 months from now "Yeah I heard Lulu the Monk was carrying Henge sword with a Rockmolder when they beat Uni in the semifinals." 12% unconditional I think still exists. 14/15% do not - 99% positive on that. 14/15% negative is either -10 armor, -5 energy or -1 health degen. |

I know someone in game who claims to have aquired a sword with +30% damage, constant.. I'll have to see it to believe it. ~.~
That's even better than those +14% ones, and I just don't see it happening, but he seemed elated when he finally got enough gold to buy it. I don't know. If he customized it, that would be a sword with +50%.. quite scary, neh? |

The idea behind using a 20/20 rockmolder is to increase the recharge time for spells. If I'm running an Elementalist relying on a spell like Meteor Shower, I can use the rockmolder to reduce the recharge time on it significantly. Not meeting the 9 Illusion magic requirement for the energy benefit wouldn't be an issue since you'll be putting some points in energy storage.

I dunno if that answered rightly unless a 20% recharge means on everything and doesn't specify "illusion magic" In which case, yes it does work. --The Shim |
