Some guy posted a real good thread on making money. Use the search and find it. He explains about materials trading and using salvage kits, and I can honestly say I have made craploads since.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gold is NOT important in GW. You need gold for very few things. 1. Armor: When you leave pre-sear, buy the best armor when you can at Ascalon. There is no need to upgrade, until Droknars. You will never need armor after that, and by the time you get to Droknars, youll have plenty of cash for the armor. 2. Id kits/Salv kits: They are cheap, you wont have problems. 3. Weapons: You never need to buy a weapon, ever. Use collector weapons, they are supercheap, and super uber. Dont bother dumping 300k on a weapon that is just like a collector weapon, cept its GOLD!! Oooh, gold..bleh 4. Skills: Wont be an issue until your so big that you have so much money that its not an issue. |

Or, take your guild and go to HoH, win and get a free 3 sigils. Or, wait until endgame, when there is nothing else to do with your money. Guildhalls only have one fuction right now, and that function is useless unless you have at least 8 members. Even with 8 members you only have to pay 6300ish for a sigil. (Yes, I suck at math) |

Collectors items are nice, for some classes even near perfect but there are still much much better weapons/shields/upgrades (yes gold omg)
Easy way to get money: fissure/uw runs |

Fissure UW runs take too long to get money unless you're really lucky and get a whole bunch of shards and ectos. Or unless you're really good at selling crappy shadow bows/storm bows/eternal bows/eternal shields, etc etc.

I agree with the gold is not important poster, however for some it adds to the fun.
case study: This guy I know named Doctor Slugfly (wink wink, nudge nudge) is an avid collector... like seriously... to the point of obsession. His targets, craft materials. At over 1000 wood planks, 300 iron, 100 steel, 500 bones, 500 dusts, 250 of various other things, approaching 250 of most of the rest, he's become quite proud of his collection. Will I... um... he ever use them? Except for that required for crafting his own armor, not very likely, but it's fun. Once you've beaten the game, know all the missions and areas, there's still PvP... but what if PvP doesn't tweak your wizzle? Some people find it fun to accumulate ridiculous amounts of wealth. Some people like collecting other stuff too. Really, it's all fun and games in the end |

Yah you can collect a maxed armor set in the desert quite easily, since people usually sell the items at around 100 each. 100x5=500 per piece of armor. 2500 for a complete set.

Gold is important when you don't have any. I've got a lvl 10 w/mo in post-searing, who has barely 500 gp to rub together. Yes, I spent yesterday farming for wood planks which I turned into parchment which I sold for a *whooptydoo!* 300gp profit (when the cost of those salvage kits is deducted), so I was able to get up to about 800 gp last night when I quit playing. I did come into the academy with 1.5k (thanks to 1 precious vial of silver dye!), and spent about half of it on upgraded armor, thinking it would be easily replaced. *cough* My mistake.
I've soloed nearly all the Ruins of Ascalon quests, spent nearly 6 hours soloing the Breach alone, and am barely earning enough gold to keep myself in I.D and salvage kits! Seriously! I did find one purple item, which nobody wanted, so I expert salvaged it and got a health rune! My proudest GW moment! I'm loving this game... just got it a week ago and have logged 29 hours on this character... but the struggle for enough money to keep myself in basic supplies is really wearing on me. I MUST be doing something seriously wrong. |

DiAnna....you aren't doing anything wrong. The gold drops are consistant with the amount of gold you need for that area. I have about 45,000gold just from playing the game the way it was meant to be played(i.e. I don't farm)....you'll start to get larger gold drops when you need it. Soloing everything you can is the best way to make money.
