You have to be very quick, as a monk it's not really that hard ( I know it's your 2nd prof ).
Take all kinds off area attacks: symbol of wrath, unholy feast, stuff like that. Let your doppelganger come close, so he takes his axe. Not to close though. Close enough that he takes his axe, but so that he can't hit you with it. Just keep walking away and keep the same distance ( the axe distance ). Just spam the area attacks then. Use symbol of wrath all the time, let him walk in it. |

Based on the extensive thread I linked and personal experience, I can tell you that a level 5 necro can defeat the doppleganger and even get the bonus.
Spend your skill points on skills that sacrifice health and place them on your skill bar. Bring Awaken the blood and 4 sacrifice skills and you will watch him kill himself within 30 seconds, while you stand and dance or eat a bologna sammich. Try it, it is humorous to watch the first time. For example, bring Awaken the Blood - causing double sacrifice for anything else he casts. Bring Dark Fury, he will lose 34% of his health. Bring Order of Pain, he will lose 34% of his health. Bring Defile Flesh, he will lose 40% of his health. He cast 4 total times and is dead. I brought an extra sacrifice (enfeebling blood) for overkill or in case of some natural regen. Don't bring monk skills at all, you won't need them. Took my two ranger (beastmaster) monks through there awhile back, straight from the Thirsty River mission, where I had all my points tied up in beast mastery and smite. Had two worthless (to the doppelganger) beast skills in the bar and the rest were smites. Had a smiting wand. Just ran up to the doppelganger and smote it to death in one try, both times. Precisely why that worked so well I don't know, but it was over in a hurry.

Bonus is: do it quick!
Can't remember how quick; like <50 seconds or so. I read all the hints for my warrior but didn't realise that you hit the doppel right after Augary! So I just ran in and started smacking. Mission and bonus first time around. Warriors got it easy! (And Rangers) (And...) |
