Never had a black dye drop for me in my entire playing life. Had plenty of the other colours no black dye though.

In over 400 hours of play I only had 1 Black dye drop for me.

Just created a new character and in 5 hours play (got to level 8) I have had 3 blacks, 1 silver and 2 reds drop.

I have also noticed that the price of blck dye is dropping, are Anet slowly changing the economy?

Back on topic - I've found more black dye in pre-searing than I've found in post. With the smaller pool of "droppable" items in pre, I seem to have a much better chance there (or should I say "then")?

I have gotten alot of black dye form the lower level monsters. Which backs up the post that said about killing alot of low level monsters. G got a good many when I was farming for the Christmas items, killing the gargoyles. Also I have gotten a few from charr. The end of the first mission has alot of charr you can kill. Good for farming charr hides as well. Hope some of that helps.

i've probably pulled near 100 dye out of the catacombs with a couple characters and never found a black there. but in pre-searing, I have grabbed 5 black from the bandits in wizard's folly near the green hills portal.

but pre sear drops tons more dye for me than post.

lol, happend to me too, but i farmed the d'allsio seaboard mission (SP) and uhhm, yeh i got a black dye from one of the minion thingys, stand next to the mending well with mending on and you can tank them all, just bring balthazars spirit and cyclone axe ftw
