I want to make some more room on my hd before I am forced to download another 200+mb for Factions. Where was I asked to download this new content?

What about the people who are not interested in Factions? Any other game you must choose to install. I was not even asked!

Is there any way besides logging in extremely fast and selecting you character fast to not get the update?

No you're not..can you log into WoW or any other online game without downloading updates?

The new content is for the weekend event, which takes place in GUILD WARS, hence you have to download the data.

how big is the update?

just can dl 3,5 gb a month...

this sucks mighty =(

today we d'lled 534.8 MB, in addition to the downloads from saturday and friday ...

And you have just 1 way to avoid this: Don't play GW :-( It streams as soon as it is open.
