Can You Re-customize an item? - Guild Wars Forums

I was looking at buying a great hammer and the person selling it told me that it was customized for him, but I could go to someone/somewhere named Bergens and it could be re-customized for me??? Is that true, or was he trying to con me?

Also what is the best hammer you can get? Right now I have a 18-34 damage.

He was trying to con you.

Once an item is customized, there is no way to un-customize, or re-customize it. You can't even delete a Character you've customized it to and make a new 1 with the exact same name! It's like it's digitally identified and attached to that character.

Best hammer is 19-35. (Make sure you don't buy a 18-35 hammer.)

Bergen Hot Springs is the location for a quest or two, but it doesn't do anything special. You can never uncustomize anything, and Anet reps have said they aren't planning to change that.

However, if you really wanted to you could buy a customized weapon and salvage it for a mod. You can never equip the customized weapon though.
