You've come in to game post-nerfus where gold and items were like candy before and people botted and used the trader reset, etc before. It's the "after me paradise is closed" mentality for many.

Good amounts of gold can still be made, just the butt-easy methods are a bit more scarce and will continue to get scarcified more as time goes. It comes with experience usually though, as well as being in the right place at the right time often too. Good luck to ya.
