GW Factions question
Ok like not to long ago, like umm 10 min. I got into a debate with a friend on GW. He said that Guild Wars Factions isnt considered an expansion to Guild Wars, I thought otherwise. Sooooo which one of is right him or I?
Edit: "Guild Wars Factions is a stand-alone product. Those who own Guild Wars are not required to purchase Guild Wars Factions in order to continue playing on their game account, and those who purchase Guild Wars Factions may play without purchasing Guild Wars. However, there is a strong level of interconnection between the two games that makes having them both an exceptional experience." I understand that ^ but isnt a game based on another game considered an expansion of it? If you want to go back to Diablo and then Diablo II same server or w/e but different games right? Yet the Diablo II is an expansion of the first one am I correct? Sooooo wouldnt GW Factions be the same like that? In my eyes it's an Expansion , anymore people correct me if i'm wrong or let me know your opinion on this plz Last edited by Sexy Vixen; Mar 24, 2006 at 10:34 PM // 22:34.. |

he is right. you are wrong.
I'm really suprised you don't understand the simplicity of this. Factions can be played stand-alone. You don't need Proph to play Factions. hm not sure how much easier it can be to understand it than that |

I'd say you are both right, since adding Factions to your GW account essentially expands the game for you. But it is a stand alone game as well. Everyone's a winner!

A game based on another game is a sequel, or a prequel, or whichever. The next in the series, if you prefer.
An expansion just adds new content to an existing game. So nope, sadly, your friend is spot on :P |

Factions is a stand-alone expansion. It doesn't matter what Anet might say about it; it's clearly an expansion. The ability to play it alone doesn't change that.
You're quite wrong about Diablo 2, though. Diablo 2 is a sequel to Diablo, not an expansion. |

Yeah. you are both right. If you combine them as an expansion, it acts as an expansion. If you choose to keep separate accounts, they act like two games running on the same engine.
