Yeah, I know this is a n00b question, but whatever, and I also know, the update removed the strongbox, but I was wondering, what it was? Thanks.

it was a chest that appeared outside thunderhead keep (ice floe) that appeared once in a while witch dropped a couple of items and it didnt need a key

When I opened it, I believe mass azure shadows popped out of it. Maybe it varies?

Yeah, it didn't need a key and it was known to drop rare items (i.e. Crystallines, Dwarven Axes, etc.) It was usually solo-able by 55 Monks.

No that happened everytime, it was sort of a bait and switch. Show you a defenseless chest, then bam, your overrun.

i may be mistaken buttt.....guildwars.com says in the update list, that it was removed from Ice Flow and Dreadnaughts Drift. Both the Lost Stronbox, and Frozen Chest that is. But it doesnt say, that it was removed form the GAME. Shouldnt that mean that it is still here, just moved.

The one in Dreadnaughts Drifet had the Strongbox and the Frozen Chest. Niether needed a key to be open. Strongbox gave weapons usually about 5 to 7 that could be anything from rare to common, mostly common. Frozen Chest gave out armor about the same amount some with runes. Niether spawned Azures and Dreadnaughts Drift could be run with a Warrior. Made the run numerous times. The deal was that they weren`t far from the spawn zone so you could run back and forth and open them 3-5 times, more with candy canes.

Never went to Ice Flown so can`t speak about it.
