depends on what u want to do with ur ele.
every class has its good and "not so good" sides. u should try out and have a build for every class, so u always have the build that is the best for the current situation. |

Fire can be use for lots of area dmg, I say go with this 1 till you find out how the other works, earth magic is very powerfull 2 but you need to use it against close enemy's.
good luck |

Fire is good for the majority of areas, especially if you build around Meteor Shower. But you should always be versatile with your builds. You can be a complete Ele by using other elements. Armor of Earth is great for defense. Air has some good knockdowns. Water has good slow down skills. You can be all of one Element but that isnt being the most effecient.

The main problem is that early on fire is the only realm with a decent variety to choose from. So stick with it for now and as you accumulate more spells from the other realms then experiment with them to see how they work and how you like them.

I voted earth, but earth and water are the only 2 elements worth bringing...everyone else will deal more damage, and earth and water are the best support lines.

I also voted earth. Fire's overated, and air has it's uses, but Wards are fun to play. Water would be a close second.

I would suggest getting familiar with all the elements. You could also consider using two different elements.
(I didn't vote, as my choice would be a combination of two elements rather than just one) |

I've always been fond of Geomancing, so my choice is biased. My second choice would be Air.

Gotta love the earth. Especially with factions coming out, there will be more fun earth skills. You got armor, you got ward, you get Obsidian flame and obsidian flesh (much later but you will get it) Personally, earth is my favoirite.

Until you have finished most of the game, you only have good fire skills. Later, they add on other elements. Personally, I still use mostly fire. But I also have a water/air build that it great at controlling crowds. If you do more pve, fire is most damage dealing, and earth is good damage and protection for team. In pvp, water and air are the best at controlling movements and attacks of enemies, but not as much damage dealing.
Just like the rest of the game, you need to figure out your own playing style. Don |

Fire is really good for splash damage but I would maybe use them all and even them out. Or maybe one a little more than the other.

Like Temp said, once you get to Droknar's Forge and the max armor, get a head piece for each element and add a superior rune to it. Then you can use whichever you wish as appropriate to the area, enemies, or how you feel at the moment. Note that the head armor from the desert collectors works for this as well and is free if you collect the items.
Of course you'll want a corresponding set of weapons to go along with them. Collector staves with the 20/20 are fine. |

I voted earth, because of the protection + dmg you can get. My second choice would have been air... its great if your in a 1v1 situation.

I voted water, but I'd do fire and air until you get level 20. Err, I can play any ele, almost all the ele skills unlocked ^^

I personally recommend starting with fire. However, whatever choice you make, you aren't stuck with it. Any time you're in a town/outpost/whatever, you can change those attributes. Nothing's set in stone.

well there is a reason why many of early ele spells you get in GW are of fire.
I do encourage you to experiment around although. Especially that you can change your attributes at will unlike last summer. |
