Advice please
Hi all This game looks wicked but before I go out and buy it, I need to know if it will run on my pc. I dont have broadband, only a 56k dial up. I've been told that because of this, Guild wars wont run properly? My specs are Windows XP/ 1.5 processor/512 ram/40gb/Asus Radeon 9600XT graphics card..... also are there any trailer downloads available so I can see what the game looks like? Thanks.

note that video doesn't show what your GFX card will render though, but what the PC used for making the video rendered. your hardware seems enough to run GW at an acceptable resolution, but 56k might be a pain at some points (like big updates) and you might lag out from time to time |

Hello there. Your machine looks almost the same as mine, but with a different graphics card (I have GF4) and I can play GW without any problems. And about the dialup... well, the game has been designed so that it will run on dial-up too, you will just experince some serious downloads on the first few days as the game patches itself up-to-date. But after that there shouldn??t be a problem, I??ve met a lot of other dial-up users ingame too.

Thanks. That's definately encouraging Graphics card is 128mb. Do you know if there is a trial version? I would really love to play it asap but I suppose that's asking too much...?

The game will run alright on dial up, you will not be able to use things like Ventrillo and Teamspeak, and big updates will be a problem, but for the most part, it runs well. If you check out www.guildwars.com there might be a trial there, I can't remember

I and all of my guildmates are in the States -- except one, who is in Scotland on a 56k connection. He had the long download situation. Haven't played together in awhile, but we had no problem at all teaming up with him. He would be the last one to zone in, but after that it went fine --no lag.

As a proud owner of the factions pre whatchamacallit pack I recieved some 'friend trial keys' If you want I'd be happy to pm you with it when I get home from work. I think its like 10-20 hours freetime, but you have to download the client from GW.com. There are also a few trailers there you can check out. lemme know if that works?
