its great, the pvp flavor of the month is W/E, and runners tend to prefer W/Mo but W/N is great for getting through the game lots of options in W/N, I prefer curse, but blood is good as well.
Look at the builds forums here or also over at Knowledge base (www.gwkb.org) for ideas. |

generally stick with warrior skills and throw in one or at most 2 from secondary as 'softeners' or 'utilities' as I like to call em. Many skill effects are duplicated such as knockdown/interrupt, try stuff out, mark of pain is wonderful for warrior by the way. My personal feeling is anyone calling you a noob or telling you that you suck spends too much time looking in mirrors if you know what I mean. Its also not life or death as you can change your secondary profession after ascention, and many folks partially develop all secondary professions for their favorite characters.

I think it all depends on what you're doing. If you're running through the PvE section and don't plan on moving too much into PvP then I wouldn't recommend it because then you'd be acquiring a lot of Necro skills that you won't necessarily be using throughout the game because of how many points you'd need in the attribute and higher cost of skills and although some life draining skills like Life Siphon can be useful in the beginning of the game, it loses it's value as you advance and the 3 pips of health doesn't quite equate to say a healing spell of the same value with the only tradeoff being the lack of health being drained from your opponent and that's with a decent amount of points stuck into Blood. I think for later usage for specific purposes it can be useful for example I find using Malaise can be pretty decent in PvP if we lack a Necro or one utilizng curses since the loss of health won't be too big of a deal for a tanking warrior or such. There were other good suggestions of Necro skills like Plague Touch can be a good thing to take then say Mend Ailment since you'll be always in the face of the enemy and blindness can be a bitch.
So basically it all depends on how you feel you'd use it and such, blah blah blah. Like for example if you think you'll be using a heavy adrenaline-based builds you can tradeoff energy warrior skills for Necro stuff. Last edited by Mtank325; Apr 18, 2006 at 09:51 PM // 21:51.. |

optimal character configurations aside, its all good.
Necro: fastest adrenaline warrior? dark fury/to the limit/wary stance? aoe? dark bomber, or mark of pain... or unholy feast. self healing? blood renewal (very cheap and effective) or vamp touch... (every bit as useable as shock) just need glads armor and/or a good offhand. or consume corpse/soul feast. degen warrior...another one of my favorites, tainted flesh and necrotic transversal with bleeding from sever artery. plague touch/virulece is always fun too. with monk: I won't go into the builds, yes they are better at healing themselves (duh its a healer). whatever you like, necro is in my opinion equal to monk.... slightly more damage oriented/slightly less heal. At least as versatile. Any secondary *can* be fit to your needs and playstyle. Obviously the point is play whats fun, not what others tell you that you should do. |

Enfeeble or Weaken Armour, or perhaps even Barbs are low-ish cost ones with long durations, and can really put the pressure on a single enemy

They're all lying, you should never take a secondary profession. Except maybe /me with your W/mo to triple echo mending

As a Warrior/Necro you can use an idol instead of a shield for energy management.

I like my w/n, but it's really impossible to tell someone else what's 'good' or 'bad'.
they scuttled my minion/iway build, recently, but curses have always been pretty cool. a lot of people like blood, but I really prefer the curses line --- there's plenty of healing in there w/insidious parasite, but especially the low cost parasitic bond. parasitic bond kicks all kinds of ass. fyi --- the spell 'ends' when your target dies, as well as when the timer runs down. also, there are a couple necro skills that get conditions off you (blind, etc), which is pretty rockin' if you're w. somebody already mentioned mark of pain, but I don't want to funnel you into the same bar I'm using -- just check 'em all out in the skill list and put some thought into it. just bear in mind that you'll probably want to stick to the lower en stuff because you're regen will only be 2 pips. your base pool won't be much, but if you use the weapon sets, you can double it w/an offhand in your 'pocket', and maybe use a w skill like bonetti's to charge back up. half my bar is necro -- I like to find skills that complement each other from the 2 classes. |
