How to extract Rune from farmed item - Guild Wars Forums

This is the second time I have found a salvagable item dropped in PvE, and it says I discovered a Minor rune in there.. but in the past when I salvage items like this no rune comes out.. just raw material.. any advice on how to use this?

You need to use an Expert Salvage Kit, a regular Salvage Kit will not get you any runes from armours, nor upgrade components from weapons.
