Has anyone tried using empathy or SS on Shiro? I'm thinking of making a mesmer, and I like that straw effigy thingy, and my guildie, who is a necro is close to getting to Shiro, and wants to try SS on him.

well went i went though with my necro i only use 3 skills SS/Empathy and Insidious Parasite my lowest time been 1:33..

Well It might work but Shiro has some odd skills that are of some concern as far as the damage output on SS goes. SS requires the enemy to constantly attack in order to really do damage. There are times when shiro will do this thing called the Reapers Meditation I think. He just kind of sits there and he absorbs the next 700 damage tossed his way then he kills someone. LoL. Empathy also requires constant attacks. SS will help but I'd personally concentrate on armor debuffs and other debuff curses to help the other members of your party. Shiro is just odd. He does big damage attacks but he doesn't constantly pound on you. That's why I'm hesitant about both empathy and SS being good skills to use on him.

Ideally, both. Thing is Shiro has ALOT of health so while something like SS is nice against your average minion, it ain't gonna upset Shiro alot. (My assassin kept putting Deep Wound on him, and it barely dented his health bar) A mesmer spell like Conjour Phantasm, something which does ferocious health degen, would probably be as good, if not more so dure to it bypassing armour. Clumsiness would be good too, as it would make him miss an attack. for this reason, Price of Failure would be good too.

my strategy worked very well.
we had 3 warriors, all bringing sword of storms*** (the skill given to you by kuunavang), and then every player just ran right up next to shiro, and all three warriors hit it in turn...
***sword of storms; for 15 secconds you and every adjacent ally do 25 damage to all adjacent targets...so, 25X8=200; shiro was taking about 200 dmg, per seccond, the entire time.
it took him appx 20-30 secconds to die.

Those Ces. Skills make short work of Shiro.

I've seen people henchie him plenty of times in under 2mins.
