Now that factions is out, which do YOU prefer? Axe or sword?
I still prefer the axe, I feel it still does more dps imo...

Well, I'm a big fan of Tripple Chop, but to be fair, it's the only new warrior elite that I've extensivly in PvE. Auspicous Parry is fantastic vs wurms as well, just alternate between it and riposte... every other time the wurm attacks you it gets hit with riposte, the other hits recharge your riposte... not sure how it'll work in regular PvE play, but it certainly helps Final Thrust recharge...

Still Sticking with the axe. After an extensive testing with sword/axe on Prophacies, it's a safe bet that i'll never try out another sword or hammer again with any character type. I do however like bows, but have not created a solid ranger for quite some time now. Perhaps i'll run a bow wielding character with my still free slot. For the reccord..swords do look cool and do have some solid skills or else people wouldn't use them at all. I think axe just does a little more damage and I like the looks of them better compared to swords. Hammers..."NO SHIELD" need I say more...

Well, swords look better, besides the chaos axe, can't really beat that. :P
Axes do more damage in my opinion, especially since they have a higher crit chance rate if i'm not mistaken. I do love the skins on the new swords though. |

hmm it's tough, Factions has alot of nice looking axes. I prefer using a sword, Dragon Slash with For Great Justice is about a +43 dmg hit every other swing with Tiger Stance you can just keep spamming it, it's pretty nice.
I do feel that axes do more damage though, maybe it's because you see the occasional max damage go off, not sure. |

I use different weapons in different situation. Being a damage dealer I use axe, being normal pve tank I like sword, espeically fiery dragon sword and icy dragon sword which I can use in shiverpeak and fire island becasue I would never upgrade a fiery or icy hilt on my expensive sword.

Can u giv my 1 reason why u think a axe is better than a sword???
Axe speed=1,33 sec Sword speed=1,33 sec Axe Dmg = 17 Sword Dmg = 18,5 The damage is the average with a max axe/sword |

Well depends on what u are playing.
in PvP i like an axe for the higher damage attacks in PvE i think a sword is better. IMHO, the point of a warrior in pve is not to deal damage, it is to absorb it. I try to base my pve warrior builds around the best ways to grab aggro and stay alive without driving monks crazy. that is why i prefer a sword in pve, as the riposte skills and other similar ones are added defense for attacks that get through your stances. also, some mobs carry wild blow and you could use the extra defense of riposte and deadly riposte to decrease the damage done to you. |

If it's pvp then it'll usually be the axe, (With some exceptions such as if you're doing gvg and need a charge warrior, which can use a sword) just because of the simple fact that axe can go eviserate and executioner's strike for some massive spike dmg (with the deep wound). Although triple chop sounds quite intresting too. The only sword skill that I can think of that matchs eviserate would be a final thrust when they have less than 50% health.

I don't know why people like eviscrate so much in PvE. It's great for PvP because you gotta spike damage, but in PvE there are other elites that let you stay alive longer and do more damage.
Right now, I am a big fan of the duplicate skills Desperation Blow and Drunken Blow. Am I the only one who thinks the duplicate skills in factions are too powerful? It's like a permanent echo. Combined with Dolyak signet, you get tons of armor and you do not suffer knockdown, so Desperation Blow and Drunken Blow are basically Eviscrates for 5 energy! Combine with Victory is Mine, which gives you energy and hp for conditions on surrounding enemies (you will put conditions on enemies very quickly with Desperation/Drunken blow), you can just use desperation/drunken blow endlessly. I've tried farming very effectively with zero swordsmanship and just using riposte, deadly ripost, drunken, desperation, dolyak, watch yourself, healing signet, and a stance (i usually use mesmer's physical resistance if I am farming all melee areas, or elemental resistance against hydras). If you want maximum damage in PvE, I find drunken, desperation, dolyak, and flourish to be really good. All your attacks will be a drunken blow or desperation blow, flourish recharges the skill and energy instantly, and you have pretty good armor too. The best part is that you can use sword or axe. |

aesthetically, sword. However, I find the axe is more practical.

Swords FTW
Although axes are better for fighting mobs, swords are still my favorite. They without a doubt look much better. I never really liked the look of chaos axes. I admit I have owned one but the look gets old very fast, but with for example a gothic sword, I could live with that for awhile |
