The difference is the storyline and only factions lets you use assassin and ritualist.
If I told you what you do in the game that would give away the storyline. Your general hero stuff, kill the evil doers!

You go through the storyline like any other RPG. You can team up with other players in any town you come to, or you only use henchmen to complete your quests. Some missions is hard to finnish with only henchmen though, and you need human players. Throughout the game you will come across main-missions that you need to do in order to follow the storyline.
The max-level is 20. The reason for this is that GW is a game based on skill, not what level you are. Certain quests give you skills as reward as well as xp and/or items. Therefor its important to choose the right skills to make your character as good as possible, both when it comes to how much damage you do, how well you can defend yourself, help your teammates, and so on. Its all about the skills of the player, not the character! You can change you skills (max 8) whenever you are in a town or outpost, as well as your attribute points set-up. You can´t do this when you are in a mission or in a explorable area. Don´t be afraid to teamup with other players, it´s alot more fun than playing through the game alone (my opinion). Then, if you like, there is also the PvP - Player vs Player in different arenas. If you like RPG, i would definatly recommend Guild Wars Last edited by Xceran; May 15, 2006 at 10:03 AM // 10:03.. |

Difference between factions and GW prophecies, well, factions isnt as long and its not a complete game yet since it just came out. Prophecies (original GW) has been updated and updated a billion times. Its about as good as it will get. I think factions will leave you wanting more and a bit disappointed. Go with GW prophecies, and if you like it by the time you reach Lions Arch, go buy Factions. You can combine the two games so that your characters can travel back and forth. Doing so will also give you a total of 6 character slots.

I suggest simply suggest buying Guild Wars Prophesis, the first one, mainly because there are alot of people there who are more experainced with the game then factions. When you beat this one, and enjoy all of it's little events and such, you might want to look into buying factions. |

Also, when you finnished the main storyline there is tons of things left to do, such as farming hard places, saving up for expensive armor and weapons, creating a new character that will force you to learn a different way to play the game, helping other players, wich is satisfying if the players show some gratitude and so on. I finnished the fame the first time in november last year with my first charcter, and I still love it..... !!!
