People don't get hacked and this guy just lost his money regardless of what he says.
Whenever someone gets "hacked" it's a result of their own stupidity because they gave someone their password or downloaded something (usually hacks for the game) that had keyloggers.

I doubt someone would go thru all the trouble of hacking to take GW gold anyways.

Hackers do it for thrills and entertainment, think about it you have the power to go into people's accounts who wouldn't do it? It's just like a newly found exploit in GW people do it, cause they want to.
True hackers get in when your computer is unprotected, or you download a third party program, but than it's your fault. |

They would need more than the person's character name. Their email address is the username to log in the account. The character's name won't really do anything.

Fellow citizens of Tyria and Cantha...
The Xunlai Agents are growing restless at the fact they provide a very convenient service and never get paid nearly enough to compensate for the work they put into it. They have begun voicing their opinions, and even some are on strike. So recently rumors have been springing up everywhere of certain Agents secretly pocketing some of the gold they handle. Among several victims, the renowned warrior known as Stefan had noticed thefts in his storage bank. "its hapned trhee tmies now..im getnig sik of htis," Stefan said. Many others have reported that the thefts came in intervals of 11k each time. Certain that the Agents of Xunlai were at the root of this treachery, Stefan resolved to bring the thieves to justice. And so we are left with ample proof of the cause of these misfortunes... This news report is brought to you by......Ahem, kinda got carried away there. Anyway, like everyone else has said, I'd suggest changing your password as soon as possible, and keep a closer eye on your family members. |
